29% of Americans Procrastinate Doing Their Taxes, Annual Study Finds
Tax Day might still be over a month away and even with Taxcaster and many other great tools, many Americans will delay filing until the very last second. According to IPX1031’s 5th Annual Tax Procrastination Report, 29% of Americans admit to procrastinating doing their taxes.
2024 could be ripe with delays, the nationwide survey revealed 1 in 4 people feels unprepared to file this year.
- 11% of Americans will file in January, 40% will file in February, 30% will file in March, 19% will file in April or later!
- 28% of Americans don’t know when the tax filing deadline is this year.
- Biggest tax procrastinators by state: 1) Wyoming, 2) Vermont, 3) Alaska
- Biggest tax procrastinators by city: 1) Baltimore, 2) Denver, 3) Boston
The top reasons Americans put off their taxes? Too complicated or stressful, too time consuming, taking time to make sure they’re correct, and fear they’ll owe money.
