Movie and Video Game Adaptations

Movies and video games have always been a very popular form of entertainment. When combined together, they have driven a great market for both industries. There are a long line of video games that have brought about movies, including Super Mario Brothers, Street Fighter, Mortal Combat, Lara Craft: Tomb Raider, Resident Evil, DOA: Dead or Alive, Hitman, Prince of Persia, and soon, Assassin’s Creed, Doom, BloodRayne, Max Payne, and WarCraft. Some of these adaptations have become cult classic or very popular, while others have suffered to really make headlines or be considered a great movie, turning out to not follow a game’s storyline or being changed completely. There have been other times where video games have largely been based on movies, such as Wreck-It-Ralph, Blade, Friday the 13th, Avatar, Aliens: Colonial Marines, 007 GoldenEye, Transformers, Ghostbusters, Ninja Turtles, and many more. Sometimes the games happen to be better than the movie, but there are those occasions where the movie actually prevails and is better than the video game.

If you’re a massive movie and gaming fan, the prospect of an adaptation of one of your favourite shoot ‘em up movies/games will always be met with huge amounts of excitement, coated with sheer dread. So we ask the question, Movie or Game, which adaptation is best? Will the adaptations do as well as the original? Will they exceed them and take the stories to new levels? Or will they crash and burn and never be spoken of again? What causes us to love both and look forward to both? Is it the fact that our favorite actors and actresses are starring in them? Or is it that we get to both watch and eventually play the video game? We’ll also give you a breakdown of the signature gun used in each of the movies/games as well as some fun facts you may not have known about these epic titles. MOVIES VS GAMES SHOOT ‘EM UP

Some movies spawn games, some games spawn movies: but which adaptation is best?

AVP: ALIEN VS. PREDATOR

Alien Vs Predator and Alien Vs. Predator: Requiem are two classic sci-fi horror films that had Alien & Predator fans drooling. Whilest critics’ reviews weren’t the best, fans flocked to the cinema in their hundreds of thousands to watch their two favourite characters collide. The fans wanted a third movie but instead, received a video game, which for once, had decent reviews.

ROCKSTAR GAMES PRESENTS
MAX PAYNE 3

Max Payne was a third person shooter video game released back in July 2001 by Remedy Entertainment. The game became a classic amongst shooter fans as well as critics subsequently got the go ahead for Max Payne 2 and 3. In between 2 and 3, fans saw Max Payne the film, with Mark Wahlberg playing the lead role. It was a complete disaster.

GOLDENEYE 007

Obviously, there’s been many more James Bond films and video games to date, but none have had the same impact as the GOLDENEYE 007 video game has had on the gaming world. Despite low expectations among the gaming media, GOLDENEYE 007 turned out to be both a critical and a commercial success, receiving very high critical praise in the process. The game sold more than eight million units worldwide, making it the third best-selling Nintendo 64 game behind Super Mario 64 and Mario Kart 64.

Fun Facts
