If so, becoming a manicurist might be one of the better career options you can choose from. In order to develop a career in this industry, however, there are some basic requirements as far as education and licensing goes. Once you have the proper qualifications and are ready to start working on your own clientele then you will need some specific equipment to start earning some money.
What Tools Are Required?
First and foremost, before you do anything you’ll need to get your hands on a manicure table. These are designed in a special way to make your work easier as a nail technician. The addition of such specifically designed tables makes your clients comfortable and they add an elegant look to your salon or travelling business.
There are different types of manicure tables available, depending on how much you want to spend, so make sure you find the right one for you, both in practicality terms and within your budget. One of the first tools you should invest in is nail clippers, designed to clip the nails of your clients to the desired length. There are variety of clippers available, having either curve cutting blade or straight cutting blades, both achieving excellent results in their own right – so do your research and pick the one you’re going to be most comfortable using. Once the nails have been clipped, they have to be filed to give them a proper shape and for that, you need a nail file or an emery board.
Emery boards are made up of cardboard and they have emery paper glued on it, while there are electric nail files now available that make the process of filing much easier and quicker. Alongside your filing, you’ll want to go further into the process of manicure by working on the cuticles. Cuticle knives and nippers are used to trim the cuticles and hangnails to give the nail a neat look, while cuticle pushers are used before the nails are polished in order to achieve maximum coverage.
After working with the cuticles, the nails have to be buffed – so you’ll want to get your hands on a good buffer, along with buffer powder.
As a part of the whole manicure, you will also need a soft nailbrush, typically used to remove the dirt underneath the nails and to clean the overall nail. Some of the other tools you might want to consider are nail art brushes to decorate the nails, a nail dryer in order to dry the nail polish quickly and an electric drill for artificial nails.
The Manicurist Qualification Is Just The Start
Once you have gone through the required courses and licensing process to become a manicurist and are then ready to start your own practice, you will need different tools and supplies to start with – so don’t just assume you’ll be able to begin earning without any outlay. Remember – the quality of the products and beauty storage that you use plays a vital role in developing a reputation of your salon that ultimately leads to success or failure of your business.
