Exploring The Resilience, Strength, And Power Of Women Throughout The World
Albuquerque, New Mexico — July 15, 2020 — The My Life As A Woman Project Initiative, a ground-breaking eBook that explores the shared and varied experiences of over women across the world. The global project, which will be released on September 1st, 2020, looks at inspiring stories of women, finding power and success while overcoming obstacles and challenges, and leaves you with advice from each woman personally.
Written in the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, participants were contacted through Fiverr and social media and asked to provide a glimpse of their lives and stories of being a woman in 2020. The contributors to My Life As A Woman Project Initiative are from various countries around the world including North Korea, Syria, Libya, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Palestine, China, Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, Ethiopia, and more.
The stories shared by the women will reflect their own personal experiences and also provide a deep insight into the experience of women in general in their home country, including their struggles and their strength with everyday life, their governments, their jobs, and even their families. One of the first contributors to the project, a woman named Valerie, hailing from Nigeria, set the tone for the project with her moving excerpt:
“A Nigerian woman is like a rose growing out of concrete. We are strong, resilient, hardworking, kind, resourceful, fashionable amongst many other things.” – Valerie of Nigeria
Collaborator of the project, Matthew Gates, based in Albuquerque, New Mexico spoke on the project, “As seen from current events both in the United States and across the world, there is an increased need for understanding and creating space for voices that may otherwise not be heard.”
The project is particularly poignant as it includes women from countries who are encouraged to stay silent and do not have the pleasure of exercising the rights of Freedom of Speech. Without their bravery in sharing their stories, this project would not have been possible. “My ultimate aim for the project is to inspire women and men everywhere to bring about the awareness of what women have been through and what they are still going through in order to create a more fair world and push for the empowerment of women,” Matt says of the project.
“A woman who remains silent or has been silenced is suffering. When she chooses to share her story with the world, she is making the choice to show the world only a glimpse of her true power.” A small blurb into the lives of the women who chose to share their stories will reveal the truth of Matt’s statement.
With praise from women around the world who couldn’t wait to see this project brought to life. Here are just a few reviews from the women themselves about the project:
“I admire this project, it’s like a little light during this period of the COVID-19 virus, so I got really motivated.” — mardiyanyana
“I really like the concept you have created and think that it is really inspiring.” — luce_stepankova
“And thank you for making it possible for the silent women out there and for voicing out the opportunity for them too.” — sofijasunflower
