New research from BrokerChooser reveals the countries where interest in cryptocurrencies is surging the most analysing a number of factors to determine a ‘Crypto Awareness Score’.
We can reveal the rankings on BrokerChooser’s 2021 Crypto Countries Index as below.
The UK ranks 6th globally, and 4.95% of the population have invested in crypto to date.

The investment broker specialists analysed the total online searches over the last 12 months for cryptocurrency-related searches including: ‘cryptocurrency’, ‘what cryptocurrency to invest in’ and ‘cryptocurrency trading’.
The business’ analysts also determined the countries of residence of BrokerChooser users, the number of crypto owners and the ranking on the global crypto adoption index, normalising these factors against population numbers.
Combining these factors, the analysts were then able to assign a crypto awareness score to determine which country has the most interest and awareness in cryptocurrency.
The Countries with the Highest % of Crypto Owners
Cryptocurrency might seem unknown to many people, but it is already being used by millions of people around the world. So, where in the world is home to the highest rate of crypto owners?
1. Ukraine – 12.73% of the population
2. Russia – 11.91% of the population
3. Kenya – 8.52% of the population
4. United States – 8.31% of the population
5. India – 7.30% of the population
6. South Africa – 7.11% of the population
7. Nigeria – 6.31% of the population
8. Thailand – 5.20% of the population
9. United Kingdom – 4.95% of the population
10. Brazil – 4.88% of the population
