UK Lifts Quarantine Rules for Vaccinated Travellers [Infographic]

The COVID-19 pandemic precipitated drastic changes in many activities across the globe. Countries were forced to impose restrictions and new health requirements to ensure citizens’ safety while reducing the chances of spreading the disease.

Consequently, UK officials implemented physical distancing protocols, mask laws, coronavirus testing (e.g., RT-PCR and rapid antigen test), and quarantine mandates to keep the pandemic’s effects under control. They also imposed a “traffic light” system for classifying the risk levels of different countries.

When COVID-19 vaccines were rolled out in 2021, it sparked another set of changes globally. In the UK, government officials have started easing quarantine rules for individuals who have already completed their vaccine doses. Fully vaccinated travellers no longer need to perform self-quarantine upon entering the UK.

Achieving herd immunity through vaccination is a crucial factor for the resumption of normal operations and economic recovery.

Nevertheless, inbound travellers coming to the UK are still required to provide a fit to fly COVID test. Being completely vaccinated does not guarantee that the individual is not carrying traces of the disease. Travellers must confirm with their airline if the destination country requires only an RT-PCR test or if they accept a rapid antigen test for travel.
