As we enter into our 10th year of Confessions of the Professions, the website has existed through several wars and a pandemic, as well as high and low unemployment rates. We are now over 1,000 days into our subjected COVID-19 quarantine with no end of the virus in sight. It has become part of our daily lives, making the rich richer and the poor, well, poorer, and you… well, hopefully you’re doing alright.
As I said in a previous highlight confession, we are living the new normal, where the CCP, with the funded research by United States and Dr. Fauci, can freely release the COVID-19 virus upon the world in what otherwise would be known as biological warfare or Russia can attack Ukraine without repercussions and we can pretend everything is somehow still normal and we can only hope that World War III has not begun. Fortunately, Confessions of the Professions continues to bear witness to these events, and while the world continues to change, we also continue to go to work in order to pay our bills.
If you don’t know what this article is about, every year, we highlight the top confessions, hand picked and selected for what we feel best represents Confessions of the Professions. There are usually over 600 confessions published each year and we can only select around 10-15 articles to highlight, but we do appreciate each and every one of our contributors. Our primary mission that we’ve continued for nearly a decade is to focus on jobs, careers, and the workplace, as we dedicate a huge chunk, or about 50 years (average age of our first jobs is around 16 years old and retirement at 65) to working or committing ourselves to a career.
Take a look through our previous years:

1. Why Medical Marijuana Is Being Accepted More And More Everyday
As of 2022 and beyond, recreational and medical cannabis are becoming more accepted into mainstream society, especially for its benefits. 39 states have recognized and legalized marijuana for medicinal purposes. From cancer treatment to anxiety and depression and countless other benefits, marijuana is no longer seen as a demonized drug, but a drug as useful as coffee or antibiotics.
Medical marijuana has never ended a single life and has helped individuals and families live happier lives due to the effects of the drug, whether increasing appetite, decreasing appetite, helping with insomnia, or even concentration. There is still thousands of hours of research to be done on understanding this wonderful plant, that has been banned for the wrong reasons for the past 100 years, reasons that only helped greedy industries become greedier, while destroying nature.
2. Veterans Day: The Forgotten History Of America’s Veterans Day And What It Commemorates
Veteran’s Day should be Veteran’s Month for the amount of sacrifice that our soldier have given for us and our country. While there are many businesses and honors for them, there is nothing that could ever make up for the time they gave, for the lives they gave, for the families they were not home for, and there is always more we can do as a country to honor their service. A Veteran is a former member of the Armed Services who chose to spend a section of their lives to defend and fight for the country they serve. Veteran’s Day is honored throughout the world. It would be a dishonor of this website to not acknowledge or honor Veterans. My own father, grandfather, and best friends served their time in the military.
3. How Much Does It Cost To Run An AirBNB?
With no end in sight to the effects and damage from #bidenflation, it is no wonder why more and more people are turning to try and find more ways to bring in additional income to pay their bills. AirBNB can be a full-time or part-time job, but still requires a commitment and investment of time, money, and energy to turn it into a business. There are pros and cons to running an AirBNB with some very positive stories of people buying multiple properties and turning their business into a multi-million dollar venture.
Companies have also arisen that only need the property and take a small fee for the upkeep and maintenance of helping you rent out your property. It has sprung up new types of businesses left and right and stimulates the economy for any state or town, often bringing in tourists, attractions, and people who will spend some money for an enjoyable time.
For many, it has become a second job and provides a generous revenue to those who choose to rent out their parts of their home, if not their entire house. Some people may even choose to take on new mortgages and rent out properties, specifically those places in great locations. If you are looking for new ways to bring in income without having to get a second job working for someone else, try AirBNB today.
4. Living With Progeria: In Memory Of Adalia Rose
Beautiful sweet Adalia Rose lived and died at the age of 16, a happy and free spirit who had a zest for life and toys and makeup. Her mother exposed Adalia to the world and in the process helped combat the stigma against people live with Progeria, or its scientific name, Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome, a rare genetic gene disorder that causes the individual to age faster than normal. Most live until their mid-teens up until their early 20s and often die due to stroke or heart attack, or other serious cardiac complications, as their bodies are unable to produce the necessary hormones and cells that help keep us relatively healthy throughout our years.
Adalia Rose was exposed mainly through social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram, in which her mother would provide a glimpse into the life of a family member living with Progeria. Much of the feedback and comments were relatively positive as the hope for her mother was to normalize the fact that this family member is still a human being with real feelings and a real life. Playing with dolls and being an older sister to her younger brothers, who treated her like their older sister, was something the world needed to see. She lived a good life and left us in 2022, but left a legacy for the human race to no longer demonize or see people with this disease as “weird” but rather, simply, a person who is meant to be loved and give love.
5. Are Solar Panels Worth It In 2022?
As the owner of solar panels since 2016, I would vouch for anyone to get solar panels. However, looking into it as a more in-depth commitment, I would personally say that if you live in a state where the sun shines over 300 days out of the year, solar panels may require a slightly hefty fee upfront, with the initial ROI not being seen for up to 5 to 7 years in electrical costs. Depending on how much electricity your family uses, solar panels could be the best thing in savings. You could save up to $300 a month in electricity costs and not face the ever-rising costs from the electricity company.
Solar panels would be the right path to become more green energy efficient and live off-grid. Living any type of life usually means the expenditure of some type of electricity. With many tax-incentives and tax-rebates, solar panels may be the right thing for your home. The next step is finding the right company for which it is okay to shop around and find the most competitive pricing.
As of 2022, although my household is no longer with the 4 people it originated at, and there is only one person now living in my house, during the summertime, my electric bill is usually around $10 while in the winter time, it can range anywhere from $20 to $80. As far as the amount of carbon offset and how much energy I’ve produced by harvesting the power of the sun:
6. 5 Reasons Being A Fire Fighter Is A Good Career Choice
Being a firefighter is not for everyone and in fact, only a small percentage of every town become firefighters. Many remain volunteers, while others make it a career, but nonetheless, only about 3% of any town population pursue a career fighting fires. It is a job that may not seem as prominent as a police officer yet oftentimes, firefighters must work with police officers, especially in cases of arson, and especially in cases where homicide is determined.
Firefighters may have to investigate into the causes of what started a fire as well as mesh through the rubble to find evidence. On 9/11, either directly or indirectly, over 350 firefighters rushed to help as many people as they could and lost their lives. It is a dangerous and stressful job at times, but comes with many rewards including contribution to society, building a stronger community, and developing a sense of purpose.
7. Types Of Insurance Coverage You’ll Need To Get For Your New Business
Starting a new business venture is exciting and the idea of making your own contribution to society while also coming up with ways to profit off of your business ideas is enticing. However, starting a business does require some upfront costs but especially in obtaining the right insurance, especially if you have a physical location, hire employees, or even need to protect your valuables. Hundreds to thousands of dollars could be lost if you are found at fault of a liability or even in lost or defective merchandise. If you are starting a business, it is imperative that you look into carrying the right types of insurance.
8. Elon Musk Twitter Takeover And What It Means For The Platform
Love him or hate him, Elon Musk now owns Twitter. With it there would undoubtedly be changes that are beloved and disliked among the millions of Twitter users. Some of these were predictions, while others ended up becoming true. As of this writing, Elon has now moved through Twitter, firing employees, exposing political coverups and banned articles that technically go against a free speech policy. We have yet to see the full extent of Elon Musk’s Twitter takeover, but for the most part, the platform still remains as it always was: a place to post tweets to the world and gain a following, making it one of the most valuable and efficient marketing and promotion tools, as well as a tool that could be used as a source for good or evil.

10. How To Create A Healthy Workspace In A Post-Pandemic World
Although the Biden Administration has not officially declared a victory on defeating COVID-19, we are now able to walk amongst each other again without masks. However, there are still many companies, specifically the food and medical industry, that require face masks to be worn at all times. If you are a waiter, waitress, or even a cook, it makes sense that you should wear a mask to protect the food you are around, as germs can spread easily. In the medical field as well, germs and viruses can spread rampantly just as fast as COVID-19 did throughout the world.
As many companies have deemed it safe enough to come outside again, many of them have also recalled their employees from working at home to coming back into an office. Not everyone is happy although some are happy to experience the social aspect once again, but with the confinement in workplaces comes the risk of spreading the COVID-19 virus again. There are many safety protocols and safety measures that individuals and companies can implement into their everyday work spaces to prevent the spread of illness and disease.
