Despite being used day in and day out and absorbing the foot traffic, spills, and scratches of regular wear and tear, the floors are one of the most important – and most frequently ignored – parts of your residential or commercial space. And like most any other aspect of a remodel, when deciding your approach to redesigning the flooring for your store, it’s important to weigh the pros and cons of various materials to find one that suits your needs without breaking the bank.
Fortunately, epoxy flooring offers a wide range of benefits that make it one of the most common choices amongst building owners.
It’s Durable
When choosing the floor material for your store, durability should be high on the list of priorities. While opting for something like hardwood flooring may appeal to a certain aesthetic, the durability offered by epoxy coating is almost unbeatable, saving you money in the long run. Epoxy is hard and robust, meaning it’s capable of holding up to extreme weight and heavy machinery without needing repair. On top of that, epoxy can be made to be chemical resistant – meaning you won’t need to worry about cleaning chemicals leaching into your floor.
It’s Customizable
While aesthetics aren’t always the top choice for a warehouse or stockroom, epoxy’s durability isn’t the only thing it has going for it. Various polishes, colors, and flakes can be added to epoxy flooring to help up its visual appeal. In addition to simple aesthetics, epoxy can be customized to individual needs as well and is a fantastic material for situations that require under-floor heating.
It’s Safe and Easy to Clean
Because it does not retain moisture when additives are added, epoxy flooring can be slip-resistant when correctly applied, ensuring the safety of your family or team. A spill can be quickly mopped or wiped up without damaging the flooring, and the epoxy environment prevents the growth of bacteria or mold.
It Won’t Break the Bank
In addition to the aforementioned durability (which will save you money on repair and maintenance costs), epoxy flooring is often a cheaper alternative to hardwood or vinyl flooring. Installation is typically quick (meaning less downtime as the floors are being completed) and, once finished, the floor doesn’t require any unique or costly cleaning tools or materials to use.
While every choice comes with obvious pros and cons, the wide array of benefits offered by epoxy flooring should vault it into consideration the next time you’re considering a remodel of your shop or store.
