Discovering America’s Dream Home

We all have this idea in our minds for the home we’d like to own one day. It could be similar to the home you grew up in or could resemble something of the classic MTV show Cribs. But what does the typical American dream home look like in 2018?

To try and provide some insight into this question, Northshore Fireplace recently surveyed 2,000 American to try and get a glimpse of what a dream home both looks like and costs. They looked at everything from cost, number of rooms, location, square footage and important home features among other things.

Here’s a breakdown of what they found:

75% of Americans feel that home ownership is a lifestyle choice, rather than a necessity

64% of Americans believe that they will be able to own their dream home within their lifetime

60% of Millennials plan to own a home within the next 5 years (a positive trend when so many people are saying Millennials will never own homes!)

Only 15% of Americans said that being close to good schooling is important to them and only 11% said they want their home to be near entertainment and nightlife.
