Google Plus was not a particularly welcomed launch when it first arrived. It felt as if Google was forcing a new social network upon everyone. With a popular social network like Facebook, who needed a new one? If the old one was not broken, than why replace it with a new one? The reality was that Google knew exactly what they were doing: It was different from Facebook and it had a lot more potential for connecting all things Google. While its growth was slowly accepted, Google Plus has become a dominant social network for businesses looking to improve their image. Why cater and limit the company image to just Facebook when you could embrace all the tools Google Plus has to offer? Why would companies not take advantage of the fact that they may get better rankings and search engine listings just for being on Google Plus?
Google Plus has become an easy place to interact with fans, quickly gain subscribers and circles, and even host live webcam interactions with Google Hangouts. There are still many companies who have not embraced the idea of Google Plus, but once they do, may realize the potential positive impact Google Plus can have on their business. Google Plus does take time to learn and explore, but there are plenty of helpful guides to get any company started in promoting themselves on Google Plus.
If your company has found Facebook useful and helpful, Google Plus should not serve as an alternative, but rather an excellent addition to the social marketing efforts of your business. Facebook also has many great benefits and advantages and should not be avoided or put on the back burner.
