Popularity Of Mobile Gaming
Gaming has long been an incredibly popular market, with millions of people around the world owning a PC or console upon which they can play the biggest and best new releases. But, behind the scenes, a relatively new platform has grown stratospherically to become the most popular of all.
Mobile gaming isn’t consciously one of the go-to choice for many gamers, especially those who take it more seriously than more casual users – but with releases such as Angry Birds and Candy Crush remaining some of the world’s most popular games, it makes sense that mobile gaming is actually the biggest sector of the market.
As this insightful infographic from Mr Gamez shows, the revenue gained from mobile gaming has risen dramatically year after year, with a staggering $46.2 billion raked in during 2017 alone. It’s understandable though, as the amount of people using their mobiles for gaming over the last several years has grown accordingly – over 180 million people downloaded a game to their phone last year.
And it looks as if developers are embracing mobiles more than PCs and consoles combined as of late. Where PCs and consoles saw 3400 and 520 new titles released respectively in 2017, mobiles saw over 150,000 releases – a staggeringly large number compared.
For more of these incredibly fascinating statistics, Mr Gamez’s infographic goes into more detail on why mobile gaming is so successful.
