Confessions of the Professions Loses Some Data But Data Recovery Successful
July 30, 2020 — It is always a scary time when we lose data. The server that Confessions of the Professions was sitting on crashed and at first, we thought we lost all data. Fortunately, we had a backup from a month ago, so we were able to recover most data, and many of the articles that were missing were still in our email, so we were able to restore mostly everything. There are about 30 articles that still need to be restored, and we will work on them, gradually incorporating them back into the website over the next year.
Data loss, server crashes, or just websites going down in general is a scary thing. At first, we weren’t sure we were going to be able to recover, but fortunately, we had some angels looking out for us. We will continue to try and serve you the best website ever. We try to take great care and keep our reputation solid, so losing data is not something we are happy to report, or having to let down our partners, freelance authors, and everyone else who relies upon us. Fortunately, once we got the website back up and running, it has been a nonstop adventure, and we have never been busier.
With over 2 million views a month and visits from all over the world, we stand around 50,000 unique visitors per month, which is definitely an accomplishment as we approach our 8th year of existence. When the website crashed, it horrified us and made us realize just how much so many rely on us, so we will do our best to keep this website going for as long as possible, and are happy to continue working with everyone. We are not trying to hide any in the mission to be as transparent as possible, this article was written around December, but is backdated to June 30th, so that we keep a record of everything that goes on with this website.
We appreciate your visits and trusting us with serving your articles. Thank you and we look forward to serving you in every way a website can serve you.
