A Look At Myself By The Likes On Facebook

Someone liked something of mine. It’s nothing new. Many people like things of mine on Facebook. I can’t say I even get excited over notifications anymore, since I get many, being a moderator of different groups or something about someone liking something or commenting on something. Our modern version of “being social.” When people like our things, we don’t really give it much of a thought, except to maybe indulge in the fact that someone is interacting with you. But when you look over what they like, what exactly are they liking about you?

Our Facebook posts will define our personality and if people looked carefully, read carefully, understood what you were posting and why you were posting: you were, in fact, posting it for a reason. You’ll probably forget why you posted it in a few years from now, but you’ll see it and eventually remember something. A poet, a writer, an artist never forgets why they did something. When someone recently liked my otherwise seemingly random Facebook posts, the name was unfamiliar and I am not sure how that person could see my posts. Especially if that someone is not even from the United States.

Normally, I’d be a little anxious or nervous about someone I don’t know liking my posts, but when I got to see what they liked, I realized… something that person saw reached out in my message, and as I looked at everything that was being liked, I could see my own message left to everyone … a message that provided insight into who we are, who we were, and our very being.

What might this reveal about my personality or the personality of the liker?

And the answer revealed to me when I asked?

What makes this interesting is the fact that the liker was from Nepal, a world away, who likes posts that were years apart. I could not have gone through all of my own wall posts to find those, but I had not noticed that they all sent a powerful message.
