With a new season and school year starting, the Fall is an exciting but somewhat overwhelming time. In light of the pandemic, self-care is more necessary than ever before. There’s never been a more important time to keep your mind clear and your immune system strong. Even though people understand the importance of taking care of themselves in theory, it’s not always easy to follow through with a self-care challenge.
With so many lifestyle bloggers and wellness experts sharing their perfect routines, it’s easy to feel like you’ll never measure up. The great news is that self-care comes in all forms. It doesn’t need to be a full-fledged Instagram-worthy ritual. Don’t think of self-care as a chore—something you should be doing—make it something to look forward to.
Be kind to yourself, respect yourself, and be patient with yourself. 2020 hasn’t been easy for anyone. You’re not superhuman! Dedicating time to recharging your mind and body as essential to maintaining your health and sanity. Keep in mind that maintaining your well-being looks different to everyone. Remember, a huge part of self-care is knowing when to lean on your support network of family and friends without feeling like a burden.
If you’re just starting your self-care journey, try focusing on one self-care habit each day for a month. Hold yourself accountable for micro-goals. Self-care takes discipline and persistence in order for it to positively impact various areas of life.
Taking baby steps towards re-prioritizing yourself will pay dividends in the long run. You’ll likely feel more energized to succeed in your career and more easily reach personal goals. It’s the small, attainable, measurable lifestyle choices that add up to create our overall state of being.
