Since the 60s, Boss’s Day has been celebrated on October 16th. Boss’s Day is a time for employees to thank their boss for the work they do to keep the office running smoothly.
This year, as offices navigate the unprecedented circumstances of COVID-19, there has been additional pressure on bosses to maintain a sense of normalcy while offices work from home or deal with social distancing guidelines. It’s no small feat.
Though these circumstances mean that there most likely won’t be an after work happy hour or a lunch date with the office, you can still thank your boss for their hard work come Boss’s Day.
We’ve rounded up some Boss’s Day gift ideas to make your celebration a success.
Thank you video
Have several employees record a thank you video on their phone or computer, then string these clips together using a video editing software. Send your boss the completed video to give them a gift they can revisit over and over.
Flowers are a classic gift that bring happiness and beauty to anyone’s day — including your boss. Have each coworker contribute $10, then order flowers from your local florist to be delivered to your boss’s doorstep.
Even if you can’t physically treat your boss to lunch due to COVID-19 social distancing guidelines, you can still make them feel special by having a meal delivered to their door. Use a food delivery service such as Favor or Postmates to have their favorite meal delivered to their door.
Remote celebrations can vary in both cost and effort. Whether you opt for a thank you video or a company-wide happy hour, be sure to first make sure your office is Boss’s Day-friendly. Make sure your gift idea is appropriate and will be received well, then proceed with planning your boss’s special day.
