As more people enter the field of entrepreneurship, it’s clear that the barrier to entry is pretty low. Anyone can launch a company from scratch. However, if you want to enter into certain industries, you’ll always need to follow the proper protocol. Imagine if you were boarding an airplane and learned that your pilot only learned how to fly two weeks prior without any training. You’d probably get off of the plane. In order to practice within certain fields, you’ll need to take obtain certain degrees and pass certain tests with flying colors. Even as you graduate from college, there are certain tests you’ll need to pass in order to get to the next level in that field. Consider four professions that require a college admissions test.
1. Lawyer
If you’re interested in attending law school, you don’t have to get a pre-law undergraduate degree to go. In addition to having good grades, you need to focus on passing the LSAT. The LSAT takes about three hours to complete. It’s made up of four 35-minutes sections. When you perform well on the LSAT, this can open doors regarding the schools you get into. In order to pass the LSAT, you’ll need to have an excellent grasp of reading comprehension, writing, and more. When you pass this test, it shows schools that you’re capable of entering law school and excelling.
2. Medical Doctor
Medicine is an extremely rigorous field. While it can be extremely rewarding, it’s also not for the faint of heart. In order to prepare for medical school, you’ll need to take the MCAT. This test challenges your ability to think critically and solve problems within the field of medicine. It’s a very extensive exam as it typically takes seven and a half hours to fully complete it. In order to fully prepare for the exam, it’s best to set aside months to focus on online MCAT tutoring. While you need to absorb and learn the information for future reference, test-taking skills are mandatory. When you study in order to pass the exam, you’ll be in a better position to win.
3. Accountant
If you’d like to become a certified public accountant, you’ll have to take the CPA exam. Taking this exam allows you to gain more opportunities, better pay and upward mobility in the field. There are four sections of the CPA exam. Financial accounting and reporting, auditing, business environment concepts and regulation are the areas the exam focuses on. It also takes a total of 16 hours to complete the exam.
4. Nurse
Even though it’s in the medical field, nursing requires a different commitment. Once nurses pass the NCLEX in college, they become registered nurses and begin practicing in the field officially. Sure, they can further their education to become nurse practitioners and more. However, the NCLEX is the main test that nurses need to take in college in order to be eligible for their RN status. Depending on the state, there are additional tests for nurses to pass in order to graduate. In order to pass the NCLEX, students get a total of five hours to complete it. It includes 145 questions. However, it’s not uncommon for the test to stop once you’ve got a certain number of answers wrong. If you fail the NCLEX the first time, you’ll have to wait 45 days before you can take it again. You’re allowed to fail it eight times in one year before you have to wait until the following year to try again. This test is known for its difficulty as it requires a mixture of practical situations and rote memorization. In order to pass this type of exam, it’s wise to take a considerable amount of time to study with tutors and classmates.
If you have a dream of developing a career in any of these industries, know that you’ll have to work really hard at each level. If you become determined, extremely studious and focused, you can pass your college admissions test of choice. If times come when you feel frustrated, know that it’s a part of the process because if someone is performing surgery on your body, they need to really know what they’re doing. The testing process is important to show that you’re more than capable of entering the field and succeeding in it too.
