If you enjoy the great outdoors, you may hate the thought of having a career that has you stuck inside an office all day long, staring out a window and watching a beautiful day go to waste. If this sounds like you, the good news is that it doesn’t have to be this way at all. In fact, there are plenty of great jobs to be had for those who love being outside. Should you want a job that has you outside rather than inside, here are four jobs to consider.
Lifeguard
If you enjoy swimming, want to get a great suntan, and like to help others, you may want to consider being a lifeguard. You can work at a local pool, beach, or elsewhere, where you will be responsible for scanning the area to make sure everyone is safe. Along with receiving training in First Aid and other rescue techniques, professional lifeguards can make $50,000 or more per year.
Construction
Should you be a person who loves working with your hands, a career in construction may be just the job for you and your skills. Typically, construction work is very physical. Most people specialize in one part of a construction job. For example, you can focus on roofing. Even if the construction company you work for doesn’t directly specialize in roofing. You can be the roofing contractor or on the team that does the roofing. Keep in mind that if you work for a roofing contractor or construction company, work is often year-round, meaning you’ll be working outside when temperatures are high as well as low.
Park Ranger
A job as a park ranger can find you not only protecting some of the nation’s most beautiful national parks, but also giving tours to guests, teaching others about the park’s history, and much more. However, don’t assume that these jobs are only available at large, well-known national parks. More than likely, a quick look around your area will have you finding local, state, and regional parks that need park rangers.
Dog Walker
If you want to combine your love of the great outdoors with your love of animals, consider being a dog walker. Believe it or not, professional dog walkers can make an average of more than $35,000 annually. Once you get a few clients, your services may be in high demand. With a little luck, you may even find yourself walking dogs that belong to famous celebrities.
Should you choose any of these jobs as your outdoor career, you’ll find yourself not only making an excellent salary but also waking up each day and looking forward to heading off to work.
