A day in the life of a freelancer is an interesting life. I am a freelance graphic designer and freelance writer and I get requests to do work for people all the time. I will admit I’m nothing like Sarah Jessica Parker’s character in Sex in the City, but I write amazing articles and stories. My life is never mundane or lacking interest. I love what I do, but I’m constantly busy. Trying to meet deadlines and trying to advertise my services can be damn near impossible. I do what I love and love what I do. When you do what you love it will never feel like work. I don’t make much for what I do but it pays the bills and I meet a lot of people.
The job of a freelancer is an interesting job and you can make good money. I manage my own website and I hand out business cards when I can. It’s all about the hustle and it’s all about convincing customers you’re the man for their job. Being your own boss is east and starting out on a shoestring budget is just as simple. We all want to work for ourselves and be someone else’s boss but it doesn’t ever turn out that way.
There are as many as 1400 billionaires in the world some sources say, and many of them live in Asia. On the other hand 7% of the U.S. Population are millionaires. Not everyone will be a millionaire or billionaire. I don’t really think I will either, but I imagine that with hard work and diligence I will have a successful life.
So what does a day in the life of a freelancer really look like? I get up in the morning and check my email of course. I check and see how many people have tried to get a hold of me from the various places I offer my services online. I like it but unless people are ordering large orders at one time the pay isn’t always the best. But, the money is guaranteed, the people are friendly, and I work at my own pace. I don’t have to worry about a boss per se. I am my own boss and if I don’t do the work or cancel an order I won’t get paid. I often tell other people about my job as well and try and convince them that there’s money to be made in freelancing. Some believe me and others think I’m crazy. Some other things I do with my day are maintain an active blog and an active Facebook page. I used to manage three websites at once as well and currently changing hosts and domain names so that’s touch and go. My life is never mundane and never hectic either. As I finish this story at almost 3:30am I leave you with this advice “Live to win, dare to fail.”
I go by that motto all the time and love it so much it’s tattooed on my arm.
