Boomers, millennial, gen Z and now generation alpha. Each generation has a different relationship with social media, with some more native on it than others.
But have you ever wondered how the next generation will use social media?
We’ve worked with PostBeyond to predict how generation alpha will use social media, from their shopping habits, trusting peers online, to their screen time.
You can view the full piece in this infographic, and here are some hooks that might be of interest to you and your readers:
More than 1 in 5 (21%) of generation alpha is predicted to spend over 8 hours a day on social media. This is an increase of 4% from gen Z.
Nearly half (45%) of generation alpha will consume news on social media. On average, almost 2 in 10 (18%) of boomers, over a third (34%) of Gen X, and over a third (36%) of both millennials and Gen Z consume the news on social media platforms.
Generation alpha will be the most trusting of their peers on social media, with a predicted quarter (25%) of the generation trusting their peers when it comes to reviews, opinions and recommendations. In comparison, just 6% of boomers trust their peers on social media.
It’s predicted that over a quarter (28%) of generation alpha will use social media to shop – an increase of 5% from Gen Z and 8% from millennials.
1 in 10 (11%) of generation alpha will have a job role in social media.
