Have you ever been asked to take on more responsibilities by your employer without a promotion or a title change? If so, you are part of the 78% of American workers who have been ‘quietly promoted’.
JobSage surveyed 1,000 full-time employees to learn more about this phenomenon to see if American workers are compensated more after being asked to take on more work.
Findings:
- 78% of American workers have had an increased workload without additional compensation.
- 57% have felt manipulated or taken advantage of by an employer asking them to do more work.
- Despite this, 63% of surveyed respondents said they currently want a promotion or another role within their organization and are willing to take on additional tasks with the hope of being promoted.
- However, 59% feel under-compensated for the work they currently perform.
