As the holiday shopping season begins, continues, and ends (but does it ever end?), it would surprise any IT security expert how many consumers don’t know how to make sure the sites they are browsing are legitimate and secure. There are thousands of websites on the web specifically designed to look identical to a legitimate business, but are in fact malicious. These sites usually offer lower prices or other incentives to lure unknowing consumers in. They then steal credentials, credit or debit card information, or more sensitive information with the intention of selling it in underground markets or using it to commit fraud.
