Survey: 48% of Women do not Feel Accepted in the Gaming World
It’s nearly Valentine’s Day 2023: how are gamers celebrating?
This new report on American women in the gaming community found that for 65% of women, the answer is to game solo. With 87% of women reporting that gaming is part of their self-care, video games are an increasingly present part of women’s lives.
Video games have also helped women form relationships: 60% have become closer friends with men through gaming, and 56% have become closer with women. More than 4 in 5 also feel supported by fellow female games.
Unfortunately, over half of the women in the gaming community report harassment by male gamers online, and over 1 in 10 have been stalked: there is still more progress to be made.
