When One Species Consumes Everything, No Other Species Will Survive
As the ones who seem to think we are the most sentient beings on this planet, human beings are by far the most egotistical. No other creature on this Earth is about “me me me” other than by means of survival. When it comes to the human being, survival is taken by far to the extreme. The extreme being that it wipes out and causes other creatures to go the way of extinction. The extreme being that the human being cannot see the inevitable destruction of itself. For every action it takes in destroying the Earth, there will be a reaction against the human being. The human being is the most destructive creature on Earth.
The Earth is the canvas by the means for all species to live on and there have been millions of species that have lived on this planet, long before us, and long after we have gone extinct. Long after the last piece of plastic has decomposed on this planet, there will somehow be life that survives, whether it evolves back into the simplest life organism and begins its process of starting all over again, into another creature, the evolution of the universe is the process of seeing life through in any form possible.
The human being is not unique nor special. I mean, in this eon, in this time, and in this place, we are unique, and we are special. Considering the oxygen, nitrogen, ozone, methane, and all levels of gas around the time of the first organisms, to the earliest dinosaurs, to the beginnings of mammals, to what we are now, the levels of gases have changed to accommodate the life that is us. Our time is very precious, but our time is short.
The dinosaurs are the longest known sentient species to have lived on the planet Earth though this does not count plant life. Humans are no more than a few hundred thousand years old, and their ancestors may be traced back less than a half a million years, far from the maturity it takes of surviving. The dinosaurs had a better chance of survival than we humans do, for they did not hunt their food to the point of endangerment or extinction, cut down their forest environment, or deprive other creatures of the things they needed to prosper. Yes, the dinosaurs and even other creatures of today hunt, but they rarely hunt beyond their means.
Humans, on the other hand, will over-hunt, over-fish, over-demand, and over-pressure the ecosystems beyond the point of return, threatening their very existence and means of survival. What intelligence and instinct is this when humans cannot see the future of their own destruction? Or have the necessary comprehension to understand future generations despite thinking about “their children”? As of now, if you have children and you do not recycle, you are killing the planet. If you do not teach your children to recycle, you are ensuring the death of the planet. It is completely up to you to make the change, because your children learn their greatest values about Earth and sustainability from you. If you refuse to teach them this and if you refuse to practice this yourself, than you have no right to call yourself a human being, because you are not a human being.
Greedy human beings have absolutely no place on this Earth. There is no room for even just one United States, one India, one China, or even one Russia on this Earth. We are all using too many resources and to not invest in solar energy or alternative fuel sources is the most selfish unintelligent thing the human race could possibly do. Who is going to pay for it? All governments should chip in and boost their own economies by investing in recycling centers and solar energy and alternative fuel sources. This planet is only going to let us take so much from it before it can no longer let us take anymore. We must take action now before it is too late. It might already be too late. Once we pass that threshold, there is no turning back, even if we finally decide to invest in alternative energy sources, it will already be too late. It would be like not putting oil in a car and driving it until it is dry. The engine will eventually die out. Once that happens, you have to replace the engine. Unfortunately, there is no new Earth. While the Earth will certainly recycle itself in a million years or so, it will have to recycle the life on itself in order to refresh itself again.
The Earth will survive as it always has. Every catastrophic event, every atomic bomb, every nuclear event, every billion species that have thrived and gone extinct, the planet still remains and will remain until the sun within the solar system burns out. It would seem that the warnings of ancient civilizations can no longer be heeded, for we are already there. Some have disappeared without a trace and that should be enough to know that we are not special or unique and could suffer the same fate as everyone else. Every day, there are events that happen on this Earth, from mudslides to earthquakes, to hurricanes, that come and wipe out a few dozen to a few hundred people, killing them instantly. To those people, it was the end of the world that day. It was the apocalypse. It was the end of times. They knew nothing else. They died knowing that it was their last day on Earth and that is all they knew in their final thoughts. For all they knew, it could have been the end of the world for everyone, but lucky for everyone else, it was just the end of the world for them that day.
Earth is plenty enough for all species except human beings, because human beings are not naturally of this planet, or seem not to be, as they simply use the resources, without replacing them or giving them a chance to revitalize. Instead, to appease the entire human population, it seems more justifiable to use up or wipe out resources until they no longer exist, and then discover alternative means to the original resource, rather than preserving the resources, and finding alternative means in advance, and adopting the technologies ahead of time. This type of thinking is certainly not sustainable and especially not for the ever-increasing number of the billions of human beings on this planet.
This Earth will eventually do what it can to protect itself and if that means eliminating the very thing that threatens it, the very life that it helps to provide for us, the Earth has no feeling about it, and would not experience any sadness or loss, as the Earth just is, was, and always will be until the end of time, at least for human beings. The Earth, after all, has already seen billions of species come into existence, thrive for a time, and go extinct. That would also include the modern-day human being.
Once the Earth dies, there is no bringing it back. It will be gone, and every living creature on it will have to die with it — or start looking for a new home, and in our case, we are the only species that will likely try since we have evolved to develop the tools to get us off the planet. We have literally wiped ourselves out to extinction and we don’t even know it. We keep living in a pipedream where we are not supposed to fear what is happening all over the Earth. The blindness of humanity is sad. When this experimental species was given the planet, it got greedy and mined too many resources, ultimately killing the very thing, and the only thing it can live on. With eight billion human beings on this planet, there’s just not enough room for all the species.
