Working In A Pet-Friendly Office
Our pets are no longer just our pets: Our pets are now our family members. If you need any proof, just look at the proliferation of people-like amenities for our animals, from pet spas and daycares to pet toys and special diets.
And because many of us have pets—in fact, about 70 percent of all U.S. households—and many of us work, we oftentimes have difficulties resolving the two goals: to be at home and to be at work. We want to spend time with our animals but we need to earn a living. That’s just one of the reasons that many companies have started to think about or to implement pet-friendly office policies.
To be sure, the notion of pets at work isn’t a widespread thing—yet. But it is growing, to about 11 percent of all companies right now. Bosses and human resources professionals are realizing that pets at the office don’t just mean a preponderance of pet toys and beds. It also means increased productivity and creativity, as well as the ability to stretch or change hours if needed. What else should you know about this change at work?
