Tech in Schools: What Does the Future Hold?
How often do you write with a pen or pencil on a physical sheet of paper these days? Probably not often, and neither are today’s students. Instead of learning how to write in cursive, students are increasingly accessing their curriculum on computers and tablets. In fact, by 2026, 75% of teachers think that digital learning will replace paper textbooks. That’s a huge shift in just a generation.
So what does the future of education look like in the Information age? Personalized. Teachers can plan a lesson for the entire class, but tailor it to meet each student’s needs without spending hours on prep. More advanced students won’t get bored with the material, while those who need more time or different learning formats can keep up with the class. Gamification is also being used with success, helping engage kids in the learning process.
Some of the tech we can expect to see in the classroom in the coming decades might include emerging fields like virtual reality (VR), robotics, coding in schools, and even smart classrooms.
