Using Ectochat For Meetings
When it comes to online communication, most companies trust the service to protect any information discussed within the chat. For most companies nowadays, they are using Slack, Google Hangouts, or Skype for messaging members of the team. These web applications all have their pros and cons, but oftentimes, the issue with the majority of these types of chats is privacy and trust.
While these companies are being paid a subscription, all offering a free version, and it is unlikely that any of them personally care about what your business is doing, the fact remains that the transcripts are saved on a server, vulnerable to exposure and theft of information. A solution to combat this issue is to use a more private and secure server for chatting with your team. We created Ectochat as a solution to not only anonymize the users of the chat but does not record or keep any information on any server.
Ectochat is a free P2P or Peer-to-Peer solution to online communication. It provides access to true privacy and security. With its crypto-like encryption, it is very unlikely that any message is to be intercepted. Instead of having to go through a VPS or any type of server, the browser becomes the server and your peers connect to your browser. The open source code of Ectochat is available on Github. For Ectochat, there is no storage on a server and no identifiable information is ever kept about the user. It is even more secure than Telegram, as it stores absolutely no data on the server. This also means that a page refresh or returning back to the link will yield no logs of any chat. It is important that if you want to save your data, you actually do a copy and paste. Otherwise, if you do need to store conversations, it might be best to continue using another service.
As for the benefits of Ectochat, besides using it as a private communications channel, all users who join the chat remain anonymous. While it might be easy to identify the other communicator if there are two or three people in the chat, a team of people all speaking in the chat would be harder to identify. This is important because it allows more people to express freedom of speech, explain what might be wrong within a company or the management, and suggest changes to improve the well-being of the company without worry of repercussions due to the expression of one’s thoughts.
Ectochat has no desire to save or learn any personal information about you. It is offered completely for free, though we do certainly encourage a donation to keep it running, especially if you found the service useful. No information is ever stored and cookies are kept to minimum usage. No identifying information is kept about anyone, save for the number of chats started since we like to know how many people are getting use from our service. Give Ectochat a try today, and never worry about your privacy or deep conversations ever being found out.
