Common Freight Forwarding Scams And Way To Avoid Them
The world of import and export industry is indeed intricate and complex, even for those who have been in business for years. Unlike other industries, importers and exporters have to deal with several entities just to get their cargos transported in the right place at the right time. And in some cases, these entities are a complete opposite of what their clients expect from them.
Over the past recent years, there has been an increase in international shipping scams orchestrated by fraudulent persons and organizations. These scammers often disguise themselves as legitimate freight forwarders and use a variety of tactics to lure unfortunate importers and exporters into availing their “services.”
One of the ways fraudulent freight forwarding scammers lure in their victims is through stealing the names of well-known and established shipping companies in the industry. Often times, they will use the same name as an experienced brand to build a website to look legitimate, and even posts fake testimonials and images just to gain the trust of their victims.
