Everyone appreciates the convenience of working from home, but some are luckier than others in this regard. Which industries and cities offer the most work flexibility?
In our most recent study, we set out to discover which professions foster the most flexibility and where remote work is taking people these days. I was wondering if you’d be interested in discussing these trends with your audience as well.
Three key stats emerging from our study:
- Jobs in IT, science and management, along with banking, insurance and real estate, are the industries that employ the largest numbers of remote workers.
- IT careers offer the highest earnings potential, followed by professionals in public administration, finance, insurance and real estate, all earning over $64.5K annually.
- Bellevue, WA, Frisco, TX, and Cary, NC, have the highest percentage of remote workers nationwide.
Bellevue, WA, leads the nation with the highest overall proportion of employees working from home, accounting for approximately 30% of the workforce.
Focusing on specific professions, IT offers not only the most opportunities but also the highest average salaries, around $68K. The top three cities with the most work-from-home (WFH) workers in information-related jobs are Clearwater, FL (51%), Carlsbad, CA (47%) and Wilmington, NC (46%).
Ranking second collectively for the share of remote workers, jobs in the professional, scientific and management industries pay an average of $59K. Frisco, TX, Bend, OR, and Boulder, CO, boast the highest percent of remote workers in these fields.
Finance, insurance and real estate collectively rank third in terms of remote workforce size and offer an average salary of $64.5K. Boulder, CO, followed by Allen, TX, and Highlands Ranch, CO, have the most workers engaged in remote setups.
