There was a time when the Internet was written entirely in code and for those who wanted to make websites, they had to learn the code that allows them to create headings, sub headings, big words, small words, images, or even special effects. Nowadays, the Internet has been made easy, requiring no knowledge of code at all or very little of it.
With social media, the value of code completely went away. No social media requires that anyone know any code or logic. While code tends to scare most people away, for those who were brave enough to learn it, understand it, and use it, it has opened up an opportunity for many to use this code to make a living and earn a very comfortable paycheck.
While a world of coders, programmers, and web developers or designers might drive the value of those skills down, there is still a great demand for many jobs that go unfulfilled each and every year. For those that specialize in the languages for which there is a demand, such as Python, Ruby On Rails, C++, Java, and JavaScript, they are guaranteed to find careers. Fortunately, knowing a skill in any language opens up a great chance for having a skill that is in demand.
There are approximately 30 million businesses in the United States, not counting many startups or small businesses that are not specialized in Internet business, which include restaurants, retail outlets, and other stores. Most have more interest in running their businesses locally than they do in having a website that advertises and markets them. Unfortunately, this major flaw of most business owners is overseen, as they are missing out on many tourists and visitors in the area looking for a place to eat or shop, and even locals who may not know a business exists, even though it is just around the corner.
This number of businesses in the United States does not include the businesses located outside of the United States and around the world, most of whom no one has ever heard of because they have no listing on the Internet. If you speak another language, you can tackle those businesses or design websites in other languages that target that language-speaking audience.
With the knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, many people looking for freelance work, extra money, or even to have a job can find work. You may have to build a few websites for cheap in order to establish yourself as a web designer, but after building a portfolio, figure out which businesses in your area have or don’t have websites, or the ones that have outdated websites.
