The love we get from our pets – which increases oxytocin, reduces anxiety, and helps quell depression – is more important than ever during COVID-19. It’s no wonder that so many Americans have considered welcoming a new pet into their family’s home during these trying times, but which cities are the most interested in doing so?
Using the Google AdWords platform, Lombardo Homes recently analyzed search volume trends for more than 5,300 terms related to pet adoption in 50 cities nationwide to learn which cities have the highest interest in pet adoption during Covid-19.
Here’s what they found:
- 42% of Americans have considered adopting another pet during the Covid-19 pandemic
- 94% of Americans say their pet has been a source of emotional support during Covid-19
- More than half worry that their pet could contract coronavirus and 59% have put off necessary appointments because of it
