Apple’s market cap has risen 110% in the past six years – faster than the growth of the US
In the last seven years, companies such as Apple, Microsoft and Amazon have become richer than some of the world’s wealthiest countries.
Although they represent different things, research by Real Business Rescue into the market value of the world’s richest companies compared to countries’ GDP reveals just how quickly these companies have grown over the years. Worth $2,851,000,000,000, Apple is now worth more than Italy, Canada and in total, wealthier than 97% of countries around the world.
You can see exactly when these companies surpassed countries in a graphic created by Real Business Rescue, below.
Apple was the first company to reach the top 20 richest in 2016 at a market cap of $652 billion
Since its first appearance in the top 20, Apple’s market cap has risen 110% to rank 8th in 2022
Compared to this, the United States only grew 32% in GDP, the UK grew 28% and Japan grew just 8% – a significant difference from the rate that Apple grew
