The Best Confessions of 2013
This article is strictly my opinion and not the opinions of Confessions of the Professions. These are my observations of Confessions of the Professions and meant to provide insight into what is happening on the website.
Since the launch of Confessions of the Professions, it has gained a significant amount of popularity and with its success, a lot has changed and evolved with the way a confession is written. In the beginning, I thought a confession was just a confession: If you hated your job or wanted to come rant, you could come do that here and you could do it anonymously! What better way to rant about your day and hate on your boss or co-workers and no one would ever know? Even with a dirty confession, you could come share your secret of an exciting love affair that happened at work, raunchy office sex that you just happened to have with a co-worker and on top of your boss’s desk as revenge for the way he’s been treating you and your co-workers, and plenty of other exciting adventures of happenings in the office!
Confessions of the Professions is a source that is dedicated to understanding the workplace, drilling into the everyday life of any specific career, or stepping into the shoes of someone for their everyday job. The possibilities of the Confessions are endless as there is an abidance of knowledge and topics to be shared and discussed! I continue to encourage you to keep contributing your articles and confessions with Confessions of the Professions!
It was clear that Confessions of the Professions was too broad and vast to be contained to just “confessions” and expanded into featuring professionally written articles about the workplace. It would soon expand again when I realized the popularity and necessity of having Infographics on Confessions of the Professions. Since then, there have been a submission of over 200 articles and 60 infographics with hundreds more to be published in the 2014 year.
All confessions, articles, and infographics are personally read by me before approval. I try to acquire and write about a broad range of topics that are helpful to all visitors. If there are any changes to anything, they are minor spelling mistakes or sentence structure changes for sentences that do not make any sense. Other than that, confessions are nearly un-edited and what you read is what you get. Some Confessions, Articles, and Infographics stand out more than others. Some become popular very fast, accumulating hundreds of visitors in just a few days while others may take months to get a few hundred visitors.
These are some highlights of Confessions in the Year 2013. Explained is the Confession and why I’ve highlighted it.
When I first launched Confessions of the Professions, I solicited people to write confessions for free on Craigslist. The very act of asking people to volunteer and write confessions about their work—at first I did not believe it would work at all and people would not like the idea of Confessions of the Professions, but I was wrong and started generating submissions and visitors. There were about 15 to 20 submissions immediately following my solicitations over just a few days.
This was one of the very first confession submissions to Confessions of the Professions and currently remains the most popular confession on the website.
1. Webcam Model
Webcam Model is a confession that almost seemed taboo. I personally had never read something so real, so deep, and so insightful. The confession came from a real woman who was willing to share her story. Although the author chose to remain anonymous, she shared plenty of information of what it was like to be an Adult Webcam Model.
Why this confession became so popular, viewed by hundreds of men and women, is because many women are looking to make extra money, but are afraid they will be labeled as a slut, a whore, or even unprofessional. The webcam model is completely human and although she does regret some things she’s done in her life, she is able to still respect herself in the end. Reading what is on the mind of a Webcam Model may be very exciting, secret, and arousing. For one that won’t do something a man likes or wants, there is always another Webcam Model who will. This confessions is empowering as it does give women the strength to do what they need to do in order to make extra money in order to support themselves. Webcam Modeling is not for everyone, and it is certainly not a profession many women would consider, but to the women who do find the courage to do it because they find it as a good source of income—may you hold on to what keeps you a strong confident woman. This Webcam Model teaches the perfect lesson: Have an open mind, learn to ignore your harsh critics, and know that if you are making money, you are successful.
2. Playing Doctor With A Candy Striper
Playing Doctor With A Candy Striper is one of the earlier posted Dirty Confessions. I thought about what I should do with erotica submitted to the website. The issue with publishing erotica on Confessions of the Professions was that the website may be seen as less professional and therefore, I would risk many companies from submitting their articles, not wanting to be on a website with articles featuring explicit sexual content. BUT this erotica had to deal with the workplace and was attractive to visitors. Therefore, I left it and decided I would allow submissions of erotic content as long as no pornographic photos or videos were shown.
The reason this confessions became so popular is because it was a fantasy or possible reality that many men and women dream of. Who wouldn’t want to have a sexy assistant working for them and a hot male doctor or boss? When you remove all the inhibitions that prevent us from being sexually attracted to each other and pursuing it, the possibilities are limitless.
Playing Doctor With A Candy Striper, you have a sexy young woman who has fantasized about having her way with the doctor, and finally gets her chance when he realizes she is horny for him, and decides to see where it goes. Of course, this may not happen in most cases, but it could happen.
3. The Unseen Life Of An Undercover Police Agent
The Unseen Life Of An Undercover Police Agent is a story that most of us could never know about or even think about when we come into contact with police officers and detectives. Some of these men must go undercover, live as secret agents, live double lives, and put their lives in danger everyday in order to capture “the bad guys” and protect the community. They do have lives, wives, and children whom may find out one day that their father, husband, or son is not returning home because he was murdered or killed in action. Even if they do survive their line of work and retire peacefully, they are forever changed because they have conceptions of society for the way it really is. They learn how to read people very easily and know many people do lie and they almost have to train themselves to trust their wives and the people around them. Many of them do end up alone, divorced, alcoholics, or in need of extra help and counseling to deal with what they have seen and what they have gone through in the line of duty. Many do suffer from PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and may need help in order to cope with everyday life.
The Office Crush is one of my favorites. It is the story of an office crush turned romance and marriage. It is about a shy man who had wanted to say something to his secret crush for so long and could not work out the courage to do so. Instead, he did it through email, and her curiosity and attraction to him made the pot sweeter and they ended up falling in love with each other.
We spend over 40 hours of our life dedicated to the workplace, including driving to and from work. While there, do we really have time to meet our significant other? When do we have time to fall in love? The Office could be the place to definitely fall in love with someone! If things don’t work out, than it might not be good for either party, but in the rare occurrence that it does work out, the results are an amazing love affair that could last a lifetime! While many people may not admit that they want to meet someone at work and fall in love (for those that work in a coed office or workplace), the reality is that the workplace is a perfect place to meet someone and fall in love.
The Opportunity is a story about a man whose boss is a micromanager and although the man puts endless hours into impressing the boss, making the company more profitable, trying everything he can to get a good raise, but the boss gives the man no incentive to continue his work except a paycheck which represents that he is severely underpaid. The man is fed up with the way his boss treats him and the other employees and starts to look for another job. He looks for another job and after several months, finds another job and is hired. He has his opportunity to tell the boss how he really feels and knows that he has the power to leave with no reprecussions later on since he’s already got the job and is ready to leave.
How many people have a job they hate and want to leave? How many people deal with a boss they hate everyday and cannot stand? Yet they bite the bullet, they put up with the boss because they have no choice and need the paycheck in order to survive. They completely rely on the job to support them, even though they are miserable. This confession is very empowering for many people who want to tell their boss off, but cannot because they are still working the job. But what would you do in a similar situation? If you were offered another job somewhere else, with better pay and benefits. What exactly would you say to your boss when you put in your two weeks? Or would you even give him the courtesy of two weeks?
You never know what someone is going through in their personal life when you see them at work. You do not know how they got to where they are today, what they have done to get there, and what they really do in their personal life. You might think you know, but really, unless you are living a person’s life in their shoes, you really do not know what they have been through. This confession is about a Janitor who observes an unapproachable angry Principal, who instills fear in the children and teachers at his school. The Principal has an embarrassing moment one day and the Janitor attempts to help, only to be the target of the Principals attacks. The Janitor digs deeper to understand why the Principal is the way he is. The Principal reveals that he is trying to seek the approval and acceptance of his father, who is also a Principal at another school and is very hard man to please. After the Janitor contacts his father, the Principal shows up the next day, much more pleased and very approachable. This confession carries with it many lessons that we can all learn from: We really do not know a person until we get to know them. Do not judge a book by its cover.
This story is touching to many teachers because it is the truth. It is about a teacher’s passion to teach, despite the odds of facing an underpaid, undervalued, and under appreciated education system. It is about facing students who do not care to learn anymore. It is about facing the parents who do not care about their children’s education and parents who allow their children not to care about their own education. It is about the ongoing disrespect for the teacher and authority, which most certainly carries over into society. Who is to blame for this? This teacher calls for action! For the education system to be improved, for children to start listening and caring about their futures, and for parents to stop being their children’s friends, and to start begin authoritative parents again!
Have you ever wondered how most of the world, despite its wars and chaotic moments, seems to function perfectly for the billions of people and animals living on it? This article provides insight into a theory that there are only several people actually running the entire world, influencing and making decisions for what happens in the world and what is going to happen. The theory also explains why there only treatments for diseases rather than cures, and how these people who rule the world control the economy through Supply and Demand. It also lists most of the corporations that influence and change the world and certainly influence the economy.
9. The Marines: Three Moments That Made Me Realize I Wouldn’t Re-Enlist!
Unless there is a World War, the choice to enlist in the military is solely voluntary. While every American male adult is required to sign up for the Selective Service, no American male adult is required to actually fight in the military. There are plenty of benefits for why one would join any service in the military, including discipline, affordable health care, college tuition reimbursement, adventure, family history, or just a chance to prove to oneself they have what it takes to put themselves through the military, and of course, the Veteran Affairs has benefits as well. But there are plenty of other reasons not to join including the torture you will be putting yourself through, the chance you are going to war, the chance you are going for the wrong reasons and you have no say, and of course, you may possibly die if you are in battle. It is not a video game: You do not respawn and you do not start over. Your death is permanent and you get sent home in a box where you are destined only to be a memory and a name in a long book of “war heroes.” This confession is a series of four confessions, in which a retired Marine explains his time while serving in the military. While the former Marine has no regrets in joining the Marines, as it taught him to be the man he is today, he would probably never do it again.

10. Deputy Sheriff And School Resource Officer and The Birth Of A Star
I have chosen these final two confessions to highlight because both of them go over a similar topic: The mundane routine of life and how unobservant we may actually be because our brains expect things to always be the same and unchanging, therefore we grow used to the way our lives have become and expect nothing to be different. When this happens, we are oblivious to changes when they actually do happen.
The confession Deputy Sheriff And School Resource Officer is about a man who goes to his job everyday at an elementary school in a small town. He is asked to help children get to class, tie shoes, and to ensure no random visitors are where they should not be. His job is fairly simple, but in the wake of Sandy Hook Elementary in Connecticut, he is reminded that his job could turn dangerous and deadly at any moment. With this known fact, he knows he should never take his peaceful job for granted.
In The Birth Of A Star, a reporter is so caught up in his own life drama that he fails to recognize a young kid playing guitar at the bus station, who turns out to be a potential star. He saw the guitar player, enjoyed the music, but continued on his way to work without realizing that the kid could have been his work! Another reporter noticed him, really liked his music, and turned the young guitar player into a rising star by reporting on his talents and submitting it to the news, which was later featured on live television.
There were plenty of wonderful confessions this year, amazing articles, and infographics. I would love to choose more and write about them, but I thought a top 10 highlighted picks would be best.
