Imagine going into hibernation for 500 years and waking up to a society that is less intelligent than you are. Sound familiar? Our world is starting to actually look like the movie, Idiocracy. Similarly in 2020, we are facing a global pandemic crisis because of the CCP virus in which China released a virus upon the world. Unfortunately, despite having tons of information, as the United States always does, it ignored the warnings, but it wasn’t alone, and much of the world was already infected, though several countries came out with far less cases than the more visited countries.
Absent has been any real solid medical data coming from China, sharing information with the rest of the world about the origins of the virus, the first signs from patient zero, and who patient zero is, and the only thing they have released: the origination of where the virus came from, though it is a cross between a bat and a medical lab. Unfortunately, the reality of the world is that this is not going away and this is our world now. Third-world countries have been dealing with pandemics for a while and China and the Middle East have had their own. The United States likely has its own minor cases that rank up there with a cold or pneumonia that often stay under control.
The fact is: we can stay in our homes for the next year and not come out. Hopefully by then, the virus will have ran its course in everyone and we will have eliminated the virus. Unfortunately, it also creates a new normal that has never been heard of in human history: the normalization of isolation and quarantine. They consider isolation in prison a form of torture, though they continue to use it. While not completely the same, the fact is, there are millions of Americans who are single wishing they had human contact, while there are also millions more who are not single or have family with them and wishing they had no human contact.
Societies are going to re-open soon and there may even be a second wave, so consider protecting yourself with a facial mask when going out. Do your part and prevent the spread of the virus. The virus will continue to live in those who allow it to live in them by touching your face, not wearing a face mask. The truth is that China is used to this and this is why you often see people in China walking around with masks. The primary reason is actually to filter out the pollution in China, but the secondary reason, at least, nowadays will be that people will wear their masks for protection against new viruses.
This isn’t going to be our world forever, but if we stopped social distancing, and started requiring facial masks and recommended and encouraged people to wash their hands, especially our children, who are going to go back to school and bring home whatever they pick up, and bring it back home to you and your family. A practice of being clean in school and having sanitizer available may help. Then we can likely mostly develop a herd immunity within a few years against the virus, but unfortunately, there will always be the few, which may be in the thousands each year, who will contract and die from the virus, no matter how much we social distance.
In public, we will have to be mindful and aware of our distance, but unfortunately, there are going to be people who knowingly having COVID-19 who are going to infect people unintentionally and maybe even intentionally, as that is just the way some people are. The virus may go as quickly as it came and next year in 2021, life will continue like normal, and I will write confessions about, “remember that time.. never again.” We will face viruses like this again because humans are cutting more forest down and eating animals, insect, or plants that they have never come into contact with before, and this has the chance of leaking into the human population. However, we will take every virus more seriously.
This quarantine-type style lockdown might work once, but it probably will not work as well as it did the first time. We may be able to quarantine towns and things like that, but for 2020, the entire world was on lockdown, almost all at once, and that is something that is unprecedented and was thought to be impossible. Now that it is known that it is possible, would we ever do it again? Could it ever happen again? Will we allow it to happen again?
Of course, we could all be more conservative, but we usually save our Friday and Saturday nights going out, and that is when we will all be mostly exposed to any type of virus out there, as we always have been. This one just happens to be deadly and you will probably know if you have it within a week or two, either from shortness of breath or having flu-like symptom.
