Challenge of the Week: Find Inspirational Quotes
After high school and throughout college, I kept finding myself depressed, lacking motivation, or just not in the mood for doing much. I did not know what I wanted to do with my life and always landed myself jobs working for assholes or dead-end jobs. It was as if this was going to be my entire life; battling co-workers who thought I was after stabbing them in back, or a boss who thought that his business should be ran as if he were a dictatorship and that everyone had to follow orders or be punished for slacking even the slightest bit.
I turned to inspiration and motivational quotes, hoping to find some peace and inspiration for my soul. I shared these with friends and family and found that they needed these inspirational quotes as much as I did. Whether they were quotes from musical artists such as Jim Morrison, Pink Floyd, The Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, etc. to movie stars, to extraordinary or ordinary people, everyone can share a bit of inspirational piece of information to help you get through the day and through life.
Inspirational and motivational quotes can get you through the worst parts of your day or your life. They let you know that you aren’t alone in what you are facing and a quote from anyone can mean many different things to different people. They allow your soul to acquire and acknowledge a piece of knowledge that helps you understand life slightly better.
Here are just a few of my favorite inspirational quotes:
“So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and conservatism, all of which may appear to give one peace of mind, but in reality nothing is more dangerous to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. The very basic core of a man’s living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.” — Chris McCandless
“Rather than love, than money, than fame, give me truth.” – Henry David Thoreau
“The very hope of peace is a weapon in the hands of the fanatic who is determined on war.” – Anonymous
“When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.” – Jimi Hendrix
“The most important kind of freedom is to be what you really are. You trade in your reality for a role. You trade in your sense for an act. You give up your ability to feel, and in exchange, put on a mask. There can’t be any large-scale revolution until there’s a personal revolution, on an individual level. It’s got to happen inside first. You can take away a man’s political freedom and you won’t hurt him- unless you take away his freedom to feel. That can destroy him. That kind of freedom can’t be granted. Nobody can win it for you.” – Jim Morrison
“How can I set free anyone who doesn’t have the guts to stand up alone and declare his own freedom? I think it’s a lie – people claim they want to be free – everybody insists that freedom is what they want the most, the most sacred and precious thing a man can possess. But that’s bullshit! People are terrified to be set free – they hold on to their chains. They fight anyone who tries to break those chains. It’s their security…How can they expect me or anyone else to set them free if they don’t really want to be free?” – Jim Morrison
“The greatest pleasure in life is doing what people say you cannot do.”
Your challenge this week is to find a different quote everyday from a person or persons that you admire and share it with your friends, family, or post it in the comments section of this challenge.
