How To Sleep Well
Sleep hygiene is the practice of following behavioral and environmental habits to improve sleep quality and daytime alertness. Adopting this practice is more than having a good mattress. Activities that you participate in during the day and all the way into nighttime have the potential of affecting your quality of sleep.
This practice has the potential to make falling and staying asleep a lot easier. Even just some quick tweaks to your everyday routine can greatly improve your sleep. Just keep in mind that following good sleep hygiene habits does not solve all sleep problems or cure disorders. Sleep hygiene should not replace medical treatment if you have a chronic sleep disorder, like insomnia.
Sleep hygiene is most beneficial to those who are considered “normal sleepers” and sometimes have small sleep problems at one point or another. If you’re following good sleep hygiene habits and still are experiencing sleep problems, you may want to visit a doctor.
There are many examples of good sleep hygiene. These include exercising regularly and maintaining a sleep schedule. Following these tips can improve your overall sleep habits which results in a more deep sleep. This infographic from Casper covers what sleep hygiene is, its benefits and 12 tips to follow.
