Under Pressure: Today’s College Students’ Confidence in Their Future Careers Is Plummeting
With graduation a month away, college seniors face many difficult challenges regarding entering the workforce. But one of the biggest challenges will be finding a way to reconcile the reality of working life versus their expectations, which don’t align according to this study.
To find out what is currently in the minds of students in the class of 2023 as they prepare to shortly enter the workforce, QLP surveyed 900 seniors.
Key Findings:
84% of America’s college seniors don’t have a job lined up for when they graduate
- And only 40% expect to start working immediately after graduation
43% of graduates expect to make at least $60,000 to start…. But the average college graduate salary is $42000
Nearly 1 in 3 graduates expects to work remotely for some of the time, but 85% of employers will likely not allow remote work
70% expect to enjoy their first job, but only 20% of Americans report feeling passionate about their work
