46% of People of Color Say Employers Could Do More to Decrease Hair Discrimination
What is it like for employees of color in corporate America? It’s a big question, but StyleSeat set out to answer at least a small part of it by looking at natural hair representation.
After surveying over 1,000 Americans about their thoughts on natural hair in the workplace and what people of color (POC) have experienced these were our key findings…
- 46% of POC think their employer could do more to decrease hair discrimination at work.
- 60% of POC and 51% of white people say they think people are discriminated against at work for natural hairstyles linked to racial identity.
- People say they wish they saw more natural hair representation in the media and news.
The full survey also looks at the most common comments people of color have heard.
