Attractive Employee Perks
If you own a business or have a management position, you know how important good talent is to helping you build your brand and improve your bottom line. But how you attract and retain top talent is a different story: There’s always going to be another place that seeks to lure quality people away with money or perks. So what perks matter to people?
It turns out, non-traditional offerings are becoming more and more desirable to today’s workforce. Family leave hits the sweet spot for many employees, as does work-from-home flexibility. Not surprisingly, younger people are interested in help for student loans, while older people focus more on naps, for example.
What you can offer and what you’re willing to offer may differ dramatically from other workplaces, but it’s good to know what people gravitate toward. This infographic can help you understand the wants and needs of a solid workforce.
The intention of this survey was to demonstrate how work perks (namely non-traditional ones) help bring in and keep new talent. And the results delivered: Nearly eight out of 10 respondents said non-traditional work perks are important when they evaluate a potential new job.
In relation to employee perks, this survey reveals a number of differences amongst age groups. While it may be no surprise that work from home flexibility tops the list as the most desirable perk, findings show it appeals most to people age 45 to 54. The youngest age group (25-to-34-year-olds), on the other hand, was more likely to benefit from company-provided snacks and meals, paid volunteer time, and student loan debt reimbursement.
While we can likely all agree that work perks make a job more enticing, this survey found we rarely do anything to ask for more or better perks. Maybe it’s time we change that.
If an employer is looking to retain or attract new talent maybe they should consider these perks as a way to bring in quality employees.
