The pay transparency movement is gaining momentum, with new laws enacted across the country and millions of people consuming “how much do you make?” content on social media (like this user’s videos).
A new USA TODAY Blueprint survey is uncovering how employees and managers in America feel about pay transparency.
Key findings
83% of Americans believe employees would benefit from full salary transparency.
83% of Gen Zers are comfortable sharing their salary, compared with just 33% of Boomers.
45% of managers say it would be uncomfortable if the people they manage knew how much they earn.
- If Americans learned they were paid less than coworkers: 72% would ask for a raise, 53% would lose motivation, 24% would quit.
85% of respondents in said they’re comfortable sharing salary info with their partners, ranking the #1 person in this category.
