Family Planning Trends Related To COVID-19 [Infographic]

The number of families in America has been on the decline for the last 20 years. In the last decade alone, the number of households where parents live with children under the age of 18 has declined by more than 3 million. Will the COVID-19 pandemic have any effect on this trend?

Lombardo Homes recently surveyed 800 Americans to specifically learn how the pandemic has shaped their attitudes towards having children and on their ongoing family planning.

Here’s what they found:

• 45% of current couples without children say the pandemic will likely delay them starting a family.
• 36% of non-parents are less enthusiastic about having children because of the pandemic.
• 58% of parents say the pandemic has disrupted their savings plan for their children.
• 27% of parents say they’ll likely have fewer children because of the pandemic.
