Many people use their TVs to watch their favourite shows, movies, and streams and play games either through their consoles or a PC connected to the television as a monitor. TV technology progressed in decades, to the point that black and white CRT TVs were slowly replaced by LCD and LED TVs. Anyone today can practically get LCD or LED televisions Cork for an affordable price.
The first display technology is the CRT, or the Cathode Ray Tube, invented in 1897 by German physicist Ferdinand Braun. Russian scientist Boris Rosing used CRT to transmit shapes on a TV screen in 1907. After further development, CRT was commercialized in the 1920s. CRT TVs were eventually developed further to turn them into coloured TVs.
Nick Holonyack invented LED, or Light Emitting Diode, that was visible to the human eye in 1961. Further development of LED technologies allowed the previous iterations that lacked efficacy and colour options and paved the way for more display technology products.
LCD, or Liquid Crystal Display, was invented during the 1960s, which laid the foundation for flat-screen TVs. LCD uses a backlight source for the display using the light-modulating properties of liquid crystals.
Plasma, OLED, AMOLED, and Quantum-dot displays were the next TV technologies developed. Right now, Waterford residents can get affordable televisions Waterford at a superstore near them. For more information, see this infographic by Irwin’s Megastore.
