Throughout the years, there have been several macOS versions that came into the market for users to enjoy. You may be thinking about which of those is best for you. This guide goes through their notable features to help you decide on the right one.
Monterey, the latest macOS, was released in October 2021. It introduced major design updates on some macOS apps like Safari and Notes. Portrait Mode in FaceTime is now available, and you can use tags in Notes. Faster navigation within your Mac via Shortcuts is also another feature.
The earlier macOS, Big Sur, came out in November 2020 with a cleaner, fresher look via its curved windows and smoother icons. Safari’s translation feature also helps users with the foreign pages they visit.
In October 2019, Catalina swooped into the market with features meant to support everyday use. Staples like Notes and Reminders were renovated, and Apple brought iPad-exclusive programs to the Mac. The company replaced iTunes with Music, Podcasts, and Apple TV.
Mojave took over by September 2018 and thrilled users with its popular dark mode feature. Its FaceTime group option makes it easier for you to interact with your contacts.
The earliest macOS in this list, High Sierra, comes from September 2017. It brought Siri to MacBooks and was the first macOS compatible with virtual reality tools. High Sierra’s Intelligent Tracking Prevention makes internet surfing smoother, helping with unwanted ads and cookies.
