The Awareness of Sexual Predators
Throughout our history, the laws regarding sexual relationships with minors, that is, relationships with people younger than what would be considered adults, in most cultures, 18 or younger, is considered illegal. There are some states in the United States that consider 15 and 16 a legal age to not be considered a minor, whereas they consider these ages legal enough to make their own decisions, while there are also countries that allow relationships and marriages with children as young as 8 years old and more commonly, men are allowed to marry children around the age of 12 or 13 years old. The men marrying these young girls may be as young as 20 or as old as 35 years old.
At one time, this may have been acceptable in our society, but in modern times, it is not, and it should not be. For us to reasonably say that an 8 year old or a 12 or 13 year old is sound enough to make an adult decision, one as heavy as stating they are ready for a sexual relationship or a lifetime of marriage is completely unacceptable. No child should ever be forced into a sexual relationship or being forced into making this decision, even if the child believes they are ready for a sexual relationship. This also does not permit a minor to have sexual relations with another minor. This is also completely unacceptable behavior.
Fortunately, there are many groups that are advocating and trying to prevent this type of action in the United States and in many other countries around the world, recognizing that this is a form of childhood slavery and sexual slavery and is not appropriate behavior, no matter what culture it is in, or whatever that culture’s longstanding history is. It has certainly become more taboo and while some cultures may not see issues with it, there are many psychological and physical issues with it, specifically with the young minor being forced into the act. No child is ready for a sexual relationship nor can any child even comprehend what the concept of marriage to someone for life means. Therefore, this type of action, no matter what society deems it acceptable, should be unacceptable and completely illegal.
While our past may state otherwise, we are in modern times and need to mature as a human race and understand that what our ancestors did is not something we need to continue. We must learn from our past mistakes and deem what is appropriate and what is not. A relationship with a minor or sexual relations with a minor, who is considered a child, should not be accepted or tolerated anywhere in the world. When this type of behavior is allowed, we are accepting our barbaric nature as human beings. The countries and advocacy groups taking actions to prevent this understand this and certainly see the need to prosecute those individuals involved to the fullest extent of the law. There is no excuse, in this century, for children, who cannot and should not have to comprehend anything of a sexual nature, for them to come into contact with this type of behavior.
Unfortunately, there are those individuals who see nothing wrong with it and will take advantage of children. With easy access to the Internet which opens up communications to anyone and everyone, sexual predators can talk to children very easily. Grown men and women should not be having conversations with children, unless they are their own, especially in a sexual manner. Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with adult parents being friends and one of those adult parents talking to the child of their friends in a friendly non-sexual manner about a Disney movie or school, or a favorite food, but that is as far as the conversation should ever go. If it goes beyond that, there are serious issues in which law enforcement may need to be involved.
If you aren’t aware of it already, there exists a show called “To Catch A Predator” with Chris Hansen. If you have not seen the show, go ahead and search YouTube, you can find many clips and entire episodes. The show itself is not illegal nor is it by any means meant for entrapment purposes. Chris, himself, clearly states, “I am conducting a show which interviews online sexual predators to understand why they do what they do.” Chris is doing this interview to understand the minds of sexual predators, but also to make parents aware of the dangers that their child faces by being online, and it is getting worse because of their access to the computer and phones, with Snapchat, Instagram, Kik, WhatsApp, GroupMe, Tumblr, Twitter, and many other apps that do not limit their access.
All of these apps are filled with various people including sexual predators, murderers, and just about anyone you can think of. These apps have no way of doing background checks on the people that register because they are free and do not have such a budget, therefore they provide the means of free communication with just about anyone from around the world. This “anyone” is really anyone, of all ages, and of all backgrounds.
A volunteer group known as “Perverted Justice” trolls chatrooms and acts as teenager children, both boys and girls, and has conversations with adult men and women. While the ratio of predators is highly men, there has been a woman or two involved during Chris’ interviews. For the duration of this writing, I will refer to men as being the sexual predators, as they are more common than women. This group will spend weeks chatting with men to see if they want to meet who they believe are children, usually between the ages of 12 to 15 years old.
The act of chatting itself is not dangerous, because it remains purely fantasy, but once these men want to meet the child, this becomes extremely dangerous. Since the child has no transportation to get to the man’s house, these men are actually coming to the child’s house, your house, for sexual relations with your child. Hopefully your child is not involved in this and you have educated your child not to talk to these men, but you never know who your child is talking to, and you don’t know who these men are, what they have done, what types of sexual diseases they have, etc.
I do not believe that this is entrapment at all, as some might argue. The fact that there are people in chat rooms posing as “teenage girls” and talking to grown men is one thing. However, supposedly, these “teenage girls” do not actually send these men the first message, leaving the men to be the ones making the first initial contact. These “teenage girls” did not solicit these men to make the types of comments they are making. They did not solicit for “dick pics”. Police are also not posing as teenagers, which eliminates anything that could be deemed as entrapment. These men are acting on their own impulses of wanting sex. No one has forced these men to arrive at the house to meet these children or teenagers. These men willingly chatted for days to weeks with who they believed was a child, sometimes sending obscene photos of their private parts, or describing sexual acts to who they believed was a child, drove to who they believed was a willing child who they were going to have sex with and therefore they all need to be prosecuted to the fullest extent by the county and the state.
Can you imagine a man coming to your house when you are not home with the intention of having a sexual relationship with your child? Whether it is oral, vaginal, anal or other obscene sexual act that is inappropriate for a minor? Since Chris Hansen has started the show, he has been all over the United States in places like New Jersey, Florida, Ohio, Georgia, California, Texas, Kentucky. This is just 7 states out of 52 states in the United States. Over 600 men (according to Perverted Justice’s website) have been caught and prosecuted, placed in jail for a few years, but unfortunately, very few of these men receive life in jail, instead having to register for a few years as a sexual predator, and in the case in New Jersey, because of Megan’s Law, are required to be registered as a sex offender for life. This means that there are still many sexual predators who have not been caught and even some who have or are getting away with it.
Chris did a show in Ocean County, New Jersey. This hits home because I grew up around the area where the sting was set up and it was really scary to see that episode. Over 130 men were caught during the sting operation and probably more would have been caught had they ran it for longer. These men were driving in from Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania, and other ares of New Jersey to have sex with who they believed was a 13 year old girl and even one man who believed he was there to have sex with a 13 year old boy. Most of these men play it off as if they are driving through town and stopping by, just looking to hang out. There are even men who claim they are just “protecting” or “looking out for” the teenager. Quite of few of these men usually have the excuse that they really believed “she was older” despite her age being mentioned several times in the chat or text, or the fact that they mention the police, which they already are of a sane mind in consciously knowing what they are doing is wrong. Many of them say, “I had second thoughts about it and I knew this was not the right thing to do.” Yet for some reason, they came and did it anyway.
If you have watched any of the episodes, the excuses are all mostly the same and law enforcement, as well as Chris Hansen has heard it all. The fact that they drove to the house makes them guilty enough to convict them of a crime. And I’ll just tell you, and you already know from reading this, it is not okay to “hang out” with a 13 year old girl! It is not okay to even hang out with a 15 year old girl! It is not okay to hang out with a teenage girl. Unless the girl or boy is 18 years old, there is no reason for any grown man to “hang out” with her or him! Imagine coming home from work and your 13 year old daughter is “hanging out” with an 18 year old boy? Imagine if she was hanging out with a 25 year old man? Maybe a 30 old man? Or even a man your age? What do you think his intentions with your daughter are? What excuse could he possibly have that he feels the need to be “hanging out” with your teenage daughter? Do you think he is there for anything other than sex? No man should ever be hanging out with your daughter or son if they are underage! No man has any reason for being in your house that involves your teenage daughter. There is absolutely no excuse he could possibly have! I already know you would probably be the one who would end up in jail for murder and I would totally vouch for your innocence. I would hope the judge would have leniency in understanding that all you saw was a trespasser in your home and you felt threatened and violated.
Chris interviews these men, trying to understand why they do what they do. There is no distinction between them and they range from all types of men from unemployed to teachers to plumbers to lawyers to even firefighters, some of who hold prestigious and respectable positions with good pay. Some of whom are married with wives and children, others who are single and lonely. In one case, Chris Hansen knew the man in question and had commuted on a train with him into work everyday, so they were acquaintances! In my personal opinion, the lapse of reason partly comes from the idiotic penis-brain, but a psychologist would definitively analyze it to be even more than that. Yes, men sometimes think with their penis-brains and it gets us into a lot of trouble, but these sexual predators go beyond that point and become completely illogical. Some of these men have daughters of their own who are no older than 15 years old, yet they are willing to have sexual relations with the child of another man. They speak freely of kissing them, licking them, rubbing them, and caressing their breasts as if they are talking to mature women. Could they even imagine another man having sex with their own children or talking to their children like that? What if the child has second thoughts about sex and wants the man to leave? Even if they are willing, the sexual predator is still likely to rape the child in their own home, which will cause lifelong psychological damage as well causing any home that they live in to no longer be a safe home. Many of these men try to play it off as if it is not a big deal and that they can walk away free with a slap on the wrist.
I am an advocate for castration for any man that believes he has the right to rape anyone. Harsh of me? I feel the justice system is too lenient on too many men every year, men who have no qualms of serving their prison sentences, who probably, after serving their sentence will have the intent to rape again if presented with the opportunity. Meanwhile, the victim of rape is forced to live a lifetime of having all her (or his) trust in humanity taken away and it can never be returned. Rape lasts a lifetime and causes extreme distress and trauma. Castration of her raper is at least the start to her restoration and faith in humanity in knowing that her raper never has a chance to rape anyone ever again. He does not deserve the right to have a penis. But I must digress, as this opinion is for another confession.
The whole matter is very serious and not one to be taken lightly. Some of these sexual predators cry and plead to be let go, not wanting to be branded a sex offender for life, but before they were caught, this logical thinking was not a thought in their mind, or it was, but they kept going until the bitter end, hoping the fantasy of sex with a minor would become a reality. Hopefully afterwards, these men have learned their lessons and do not commit this crime again, but there have been several men on the show, who are repeat sexual offenders, or on probation. Chris is not a police officer and he cannot arrest them. He is simply there to conduct an interview. The police force, standing outside, however, are the ones who are obligated to do their jobs and arrest these men before they get away. If they are not caught the first time, they will likely do it again. The even scarier fact is that the show has become so well known now that many of these sexual predators on the show are not deterred away from talking to young teenage girls or boys, despite knowing the show exists and these sting operations are set up all over the United States. These sexual predators actually appear on the show claiming to have watched the show and know all about the show! Yet they still believe it is okay to talk to a young girl or boy with the intention of having sexual relations with them!
I am a strong advocate for the show and truly hope that law enforcement and volunteer groups are doing as much as they can and that the show continues to be run on air, as this is a serious problem that continues through 2016 and 2017, but there is only so much that law enforcement can do. It is you, as a parent, who must educate your child on the dangers of talking to strangers on the Internet and on the phone. The fact that over 600 men were caught means there are still thousands of men who have yet to be caught and just because we, the audience, are made aware that these men exist, there are too many men who have yet to be exposed for what they truly are. These men may not just be after sex, but after the act is over, they may come with the intent of murdering your child as well.
This show has also just covered parts, a few small towns in the United States, leaving the remainder of the world completely open and unexplored, so there are sexual predators out there in many other states, in other counties, in other countries who have yet to be exposed. The point of me writing this confession is to make you aware that it could be your child and that is quite a scary thought. Please go over the dangers of using the Internet and using the phone with your child. These men are only after satisfying their own needs and desires. Your child is simply an object of sexual gratification to them. Too many children go missing in the United States and around the world every year because of the dangers of the Internet and until parents step in and understand the extreme dangers their children face every time they access the Internet, these numbers will only increase each year. It is up to you, as a parent, the parents of your child, your children, to educate your children and limit their use of these web applications.
To the networks involved, Chris Hansen, law enforcement agencies who are specializing in these sting operations, and to the Perverted Justice organization, please keep up the great work and continue to catch these sexual predators as well as educate parents on the dangers of sexual predators. This show needs to continue in order to make people aware of sexual predators and the extreme dangers they pose to children.
As a parent, it is your responsibility to educate yourself and your children and to know the whereabouts of the sex offenders living in your area. Unfortunately, there is no state in the United States where there are no sex offenders living, so please make yourself aware of where they live and keep a close eye on your children and their actions.
