As we officially turn the calendar to fall, many are thinking about turning up the heat during these cooler months. A new report is revealing how much Americans worry about being able to afford heating their homes.
According to a nationwide survey, 1 in 3 Americans are struggling to pay for energy bills in 2023 and 69% of Americans had higher energy bills this year than in years past. Other survey highlights include:
- 67% are trying to save on energy costs in 2023
- The average monthly electric bill is $201, highest energy bills are in New England ($245)
- 53% keep their homes cooler than their preferred temperature to try and save money
After a record-breaking summer, more than half of Americans reported higher than expected energy bills. And with winter weather just around the corner Americans are getting ready.
