More than a year into the pandemic, some gyms are still closed—and understandably so. But you shouldn’t see this as an excuse to put your fitness goals on hold and let yourself go. You can still work on your health and fitness in the comfort of your home.
Many people who are stuck at home and can’t go to the gym have started exploring workout routines they can do at home. These activities help them maintain their pre-pandemic physique or get back in shape (if they’ve already lost it). Here are some alternatives you can do to stay in shape while the gyms are still closed.
Go for a run or bike: It’s fine to leave your house as long as you observe physical distance, which means you can still go for a run or ride the bike on your own.
Do bodyweight exercises: No equipment? No problem! There are tons of videos on YouTube you can follow for your daily calorie-burning and strength-training needs.
Have fun sweating it out with Zumba: Working out at home can sometimes be demotivating, so make it entertaining with full-body aerobics exercises like Zumba!
Check out workout group classes or videos: If you miss the fitness group vibes at the gym, you can join classes offered by fitness instructors conducted entirely online. You can also look up fitness channels online to get the same vibes for free.
Exercise gracefully with Barre workout: If you want to spice up your at-home fitness routine, try other types of activities like barre, which is inspired by elements of ballet, yoga, and Pilates.
