Go Make Lemon Water
PROBLEM: You should drink more water. You know you should drink water. It may have been recommended that you drink more water. But you prefer soda, pepsi, or something with more flavor. You can’t help it. You keep opening drinks with flavor that seem more satisfying to you.
The problem with drinking all those drinks is that they are not really thirst quenchers, but designed to keep you wanting more. Your mind picks them up as snacks. While there are plenty of people who would argue that it is a “drink” – the reality is that they are loaded with sugar. Yes, originally contained liquid water. Then a small amount of carbon dioxide was injected into the water to form carbonated water, which creates a chemical reaction to form bubbles. The flavor is still like water — if you drink seltzer water or club soda, you can still burp, but there is no flavor. Then a series of other chemicals, such as absorbic acid, sodium benzoate, high corn fructose syrup, and food coloring may be added to give it its color. All these chemicals may cause different reactions over time on the body, but the high fructose syrup contains many calories. Drinking a can of soda or more per day can easily add up to about 60 pounds in calories a year. You probably will not notice a 60 pound weight gain in a year, but you will probably gain some weight.
SOLUTION: You should really learn to love water, but I understand, there are plenty of people that just do not like it. You would if you were dying of thirst or it was your only option. But in our world, we have choices and most of us are not attuned to just drinking water. If you can relearn to love drinking water again, it is the major source of what keeps you alive and going. But if you can flavor your water with something natural to taste like something you will enjoy, than that is a great option for you to trick yourself into drinking more water.
Make the decision to make the easy switch. Give up soda and switch to water. Switching to water is easy if you add a lemon to it. If you do not care much for the taste of lemon, this may not work for you. You could try a lime, orange, or other citrus fruit. Once you’ve chosen your fruit, take it and slice it up. Afterwards, if you want a drink right then and there, squeeze the juice from a piece of the fruit into the water. Otherwise, put the sliced fruit into the freezer to keep it preserved.
When you want to drink some water, take a piece of fruit and add it to the water. The water should defrost the fruit and if you wait a few minutes, you should be able to taste the fruit. If not, mix it around and crush it so the pieces of the fruit will float around in the water.
Normally, when I work out, I have no issues with drinking water at all. I love water if it is purified by a Brita filter or some type of filter. I love the texture, the flavor, of pure water with all the lead and other garbage removed in the filter. It tastes great. Unfortunately, when I am not working out, my taste buds change to want something sweeter and that’s when I do turn to the lemon water. When I go out, I often ask for lemon water. When I’m home though, I don’t always buy lemons.
There is also another great alternative that I put in my water. I have been using this product for over a year to drink water. It is crystalized lemon, which almost looks like salt and you sprinkle it into water, stir up the water, and you have the pure lemon flavor in water. The company that makes this product is called {True Citrus} and the product is {True Lemon}. I happened to come across it in the dollar store and saw that the ingredients were completely natural with 0 calories. It comes in a small box with about 10 packages. Ripping open a package and examining the particles inside will reveal it looks like salt. In fact, it is lemon pieces chopped up very small. These lemon pieces do not actually need to be frozen, kept in a fridge, or a freezer. Storing them in the pantry or closet is fine. Once you’ve added it to your water and stirred, you can begin to drink. Before you drink it all, considering how delicious it is and that everything usually settles to the bottom, leave about a quarter of it left and go refill. You can actually get about 2 or 3 more cups out of that one package and it still tastes just as if you put the first package in.
That is the secret to tricking yourself into drinking water. It is a great secret and one that you can use throughout the day. As long as you remain active, watch what you eat, and stop drinking your calories, you are bound to lose inches and weight. This was not a paid or sponsored article, just some insight into a product I enjoyed.
