A Look At Marvel Iron Man’s Hulk Buster
In honor of the re-release of Avengers: Infinity War (2019) in movie theaters on June 28, 2019, we wanted to take a look at some of the technology of Iron Man, the suit that started it all. Built as a tool to escape the Afghanistani desert when Tony Stark, of Stark Industries, an international weapons manufacturer, was kidnapped and held for ransom with the intention to murder Stark, and this escalated the destruction of his arms business, but the introuction of his armor business, designed specifically for himself, and another suit, “War Machine” (Iron Patriot) on loan to the Unites States government.
While we will not get into the full story for this article, as you can just read the comics, or watch the Iron Man (2008) movie, Iron Man was the movie that started it all. However, Hulk films had existed before, with director Ang Lee in 2003, which was not related to the MCU movie’s at all, and in 2008, with director Louis Leterrier, and while the actor for the Hulk did not stay, the “continuance” of the storyline did.
In 2012, we were given the Avengers, which brought Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America together, making all the films appear relevant enough to build a storyline. During the Avengers, we find that Bruce Banner, who has been in hiding for many years, and is coerced to join S.H.I.E.L.D., has been living without incident for quite some time. While soon-to-be-team would love to see the Hulk, Bruce Banner really understands the rage that occurs when the Hulk comes out, often brought upon by extreme situations that cause his heart to raise or cause him major distress.
When the Hulk comes out, the rage is unstoppable, and Bruce Banner “takes a back seat”, as he put it in Thor: Ragnarok, “it’s like being in the trunk of a car” when the Hulk comes out. Bruce has very little control and is only able to regain some control when the Hulk calms down, often brought upon by Betty Ross and later on, by Black Widow, who says, “The Sun’s Getting Real Low…”
In Avengers: Age Of Ultron, we are introduced to a new suit designed by Tony Stark, in order to combat the rage of the Hulk, which is almost impossible. For Iron Man’s suit, we do get to see exactly how it works and the efforts to combat Hulk, although the suit can only do so much. In the movie, the Hulk Buster does the job it needs to do, but shows us its incredible powers, along with its ability to repair itself.
See below the infographic the fight scene between Iron Man and Hulk. Now we take an in-depth look into the technology, piece by piece, of what goes into making a Hulk Buster suit.
