According to new data from the NCCS (National Center for Charitable Statistics) there are currently over 1.5 million nonprofits that are currently registered in the United States. Many people know that nonprofits are mainly formed to create a positive change in a local community or for the greater public benefit. But did you know that are also a major source of jobs in the American economy? Nonprofit jobs account for over 11.4 million jobs in the United States alone and account for over 10% of all private sector employment according to recent data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

To help show the impact of Nonprofits in the United States, the brilliant minds from Kittleman put together an in-depth analysis of the Largest Nonprofit Organization in each U.S. state. The looked at the total number of receipts and assets to rank the largest nonprofit in each state. The data they used is from the most up to date from the National Center for Charitable Statistics. They found that the largest nonprofits in each state were concentrated in five main areas: health, education, conservation, finance, and community-based organizations.
