Obesity: Accepting A Life Of Being Fat
The following article is not meant to offend you, but only influence you to do something about your lifestyle. This article was not written with any intention to fat or obese shame. You may get offended by some of this material, but you can continue to live your life the way you want, or you can do something about it. This article is meant to motivate you to do something about your current lifestyle. My words may seem harsh and you may not agree with me, but the truth is never easy to handle, and tough love usually always leads to good things.
When did it become normal for people to go out and order fast food? When did it become normal for fast food restaurants to not have 100% real beef or 100% real chicken? If it is not 100% than what is in it and why would you even think of eating it if it is not 100% real? When did it become normal for restaurants to load up their food with a lot of salt in order for it to be “tasty?” When did we start thinking that a large plate was a portion? When did it become appropriate for someone to eat until they were full rather than just satisfied? When did it become okay for the government to tell us what to eat and what not to eat?
All of these questions lead to the fact that we are an obese nation. At one time, we were one of the greatest fit nations in the world, and now we are just a nation of fat people. Yes, be offended. You are fat. If you are not fat, than you live with or know someone who is fat. You know how I know this? The news media reports have emphasized it! 3 out of 4 people in the United States are fat or obese.
I bet you have or know someone who has a belly. It is not the “cute belly” or the “baby fat belly” that we all used to have when we were younger. No, it is a fat belly; a beer belly; a wheat belly; a bread belly; a sugar belly. I have been guilty of thinking and asking a woman how far along she was in her pregnancy when really, she was just fat. She got offended.
Think about that: She got offended because her belly looked pregnant and she was fat, and I assumed she was pregnant, though she would probably do nothing about her pregnant-looking fat belly. If she was really pregnant, she would not have been offended by what I asked her. However, the fact is: She knew she was fat and was offended by it.
Yes, what I say is probably offensive to some women, and even men. I have been through all the insults in my life too, from being told to go on slim fast, to being outright told I was fat, and being picked on in school because I had a weight problem. I even had a teacher tell me I was “on the heavy side” and that was the reason I had bullies.
Unfortunately for me, I was overweight for most of my life and even considered obese for a few years. I had always carried my weight well so I just had the “overweight look.” Luckily for me, I broke all influential food factors – learned what works for my body, and lost 80 pounds.
By the USDA standards, I’m still overweight by a few pounds. The USDA goes by a chart they created in the 1950s and it is a fairly accurate chart. The human body has not changed much since the 1950s. In fact, it has not changed in tens of thousands of years. What has changed is the way food is made. What is not accurate is the USDA telling you how many calories, carbs, proteins, and fats you should be eating everyday.
They recommend about 300 grams of carbohydrates to be eaten a day! A day! If you continue eating that many carbs, you are going to gain a lot of weight. The actual amount of carbs you should be eating: No more than 100 to 150 grams. The good news is: You can eat as many good fats and proteins as you want, within reason. What do I mean by that? Eat until you are satisfied, not until you are so full it hurts. Your body has an easier time understanding proteins and fats than it does carbohydrates. However, when it comes to complex carbohydrates, you can eat plenty of vegetables, which your body understands as well.
I have been in the gym for hours on end with and without results, and during my time in gyms, I have gone to many people, asking different questions, with the number one question being:
Are you happy with your body?
From obese people in the gym to overweight people in the gym to body builders in the gym to skinny people in the gym: Almost no one is happy with their body.
Sure, the people who are more in shape have more confidence than those who do not, and the overweight and obese people seem more confident because they are doing something about their weight, but not a single person is ever happy with their bodies.
If they were, they would probably not be at the gym. Yes, they may use the excuse that they are working out and staying in shape, but our ancestors had no access to the gym and were in perfect shape. They used the outdoors to get into shape: Hunting, gathering, playing, swimming, having sex, hiking and traveling.
The body builders or buff guys and girls seem to have made it a lifestyle and are comfortable. The overweight and the obese, if they are successful, seem to be happier. There is also an unsuccessful crowd, a crowd that seems to be hopeless: this is the crowd that makes News Years Resolutions and rarely sticks to them, that one day decides they need to do something about their weight, but sees no changes after a few months, and gives up, and those who just get bored and tired of working out because they see no changes in weight or body.
The issue is that the majority of people are uneducated about food and their bodies and believe that fast food is a completely normal part of life. However, it really isn’t. They think they are not going to the gym enough. Whenever fast food or processed food is introduced back into the body, any work done at the gym is undone.
Truth: You don’t need to go to the gym. You still need some exercise, but you can do that by walking for a half hour to an hour a day or doing something that gets your heart going for at least a half hour a day. A walk after dinner would do you and your family good.
Obesity became this acceptable fact of life and everyone turns to infomercials, doctors, and surgery to get them “perfect bodies.” Those who have perfect bodies actually work for those perfect bodies. While we are all different, coming in different shapes and sizes, the majority of people can have perfect bodies. You are what you eat. If you eat fast food that is loaded with ingredients that you cannot even pronounce, your body will make you look like those ingredients, which results in the look of the fat and obese.
Think of it this way: We need energy to survive. We need energy to function. Food must go into energy in order for us to eat that food and take in energy. Energy comes originally from the sun. The only reason we exist is because the sun exists. The sun is our energy. 99.9% of the mass and energy in the universe is the sun. We are but only .1% of the entire mass of energy in the universe.
All processed food requires hardly any energy to be created. You then eat that processed food that has hardly any energy which does nothing for your body, makes you feel more tired, and usually makes you fat. All you did was consume the empty energy – the calories – with no nutrition for your body to use.
Food that takes time to grow, such as fruits and vegetables, and even animals that we eat that are grown naturally and are able to eat grass, where the sun shines, are taking in energy themselves, and then we eat that energy, which makes us feel good, makes us have more energy, and we actually use that energy instead of gaining weight. Of course, with portion control (the size of your fist is your portion), the obesity problem would be solved right there.
Unfortunately, processed foods hardly cost anything to make, are sold at a massive level with the majority of population buying those types of foods, and companies are making billions to trillions of dollars in profit, with ingredients costing only a few pennies. You, the consumer of processed foods, finds yourself having to go to the doctor more often, who will never tell you what is really wrong with you, but I can tell you that million dollar question which you will never pay me for:
YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT. STOP EATING GARBAGE AND YOU WILL FIND YOURSELF A LOT HEALTHIER WITH NO DOCTOR RECOMMENDATION NECESSARY.
That is the simple solution to obesity. Stop eating crap or foods without energy. Start eating foods that are not processed. Eliminate all processed foods including milk and bread from your diet and you will see all your problems disappear, including a portion of your weight.
No company cares about what you eat or your health. Your addiction to sugar, salt, bad fats, and simple carbohydrates are what these companies are depending on in order to make money off of you, including the healthcare system, and it is killing you and your family. Start cooking your own food only and you will see a major difference in your lifestyle and the lifestyle of your family.
Obesity is not acceptable for our society. We are not meant to be a nation of fat lazy slobs who have no time, energy, or skills to cook our own food; where children have no idea what fruits or vegetables are or are never taught how to cook. Children are not meant to be fat or obese and it is certainly not acceptable.
By accepting obesity, we have accepted a nation where it is okay for companies to be profiteering off our health, where cheap processed food is acceptable to eat, death by food is acceptable, where it is acceptable for a doctor to treat, rather than to cure any illness, and prescribe a prescription drug in the form of a pill for everything that someone has, and are dumbfounded when it comes to the actual source of the problem, and where it is acceptable to live in a nation where laziness is the norm. Acceptance of obesity is ignorance of life and the beginning of the end for a healthy functioning society.
