Preply surveyed Americans working part-time and full-time to determine what American communication habits were like in different industries and in various cities.
Key Findings:
Kansas City, MO, and Dallas, TX, have the best workplace communication.
Austin, TX, Detroit, MI, and Philadelphia, PA, have the worst workplace communication.
Americans in the food/beverage and hospitality industries experience the worst workplace communication.
The average American typically engages in office small talk for about 8 minutes.
While at work, 73% of Americans would rather work through lunch than engage in small talk.
Poor workplace communication has caused 1 in 6 Americans to quit a job.
